The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

With one hundred floors and a 125-foot spire, the Starlight Tower rises high above the Sacrosanct skyline. More than just a landmark, the Starlight Tower offers a unique mix of restaurants, shops, and offices spaced throughout the building. Organized into nine verticle zones, each of which features a sky lobby and a light-filled garden atrium which merge the upscale interior with a faux landscaped exterior setting.
Lifting the cup to gently parted blush-colored lips and taking a small sip of the decadent coffee crafted skillfully by the hands of the barista busily working on the steady flow of order from the customers that came and either stayed for a moment or turned and left the shelter of the café with their carefully created beverage in hand and an inaudible "thank you" ushered courteously to the maker of fine coffee, Beylani sighs softly in contentment as she enjoys then ambiance that surrounds her. Baby blue eyes flutters every now and again over the steady movements of customers placing their order and moving to receive it at the other end after having paid for it. Most were kind to the hard-working woman, returning her easy smile and friendly conversation while she worked, devoting those quick moments of crafting another hot or iced beverage solely to the one who ordered it. After having surveyed the busy lobby of the café for, she turns most of her attentions back to the outside world. Only when the sounds of a frustrated or dissatisfied individual breaks the by now familiar grinding of the espresso machine and the hiss of steam as the woman would clear the frother covered in milky foam with a hot and powerful spray of steam does the young blue-eyed blonde woman turn her gaze from the window and churning sea of faces outside to watch the scene unfold. One man in particular appears to be giving the barista hardly visible from behind the glass and equipment a difficult time, suggesting with an agitated tone that she pick up her pace a little as he had some important agenda he was going to be late to otherwise. She handles him with such grace, apologising and asking that he be patient for just another moment and Beylani cannot help but admire her for the way she treated this unpleasant man despite the way he was acting. The world needed more people like that, people who were not afraid to be kind - even in the face of those less than civil.
Vibrations from within her pocket alert the young woman sitting alone in the busy café to an incoming call and she sets her paper cup on the beautifully stained table before her and reaches into her front pocket to pull out her smartphone, glancing momentarily at the screen only to smile brightly as the name "Mom" displays with an image of the older woman she had always been told she looked so much like. A single slender fingers clicks on the green phone button and she lifts the phone to her ear."Hey, mom", she speaks in a bright tone to match the smile upon her lips."Hello, sweetheart! How are you this morning? It sure sounds awfully busy wherever you are", replied her mother whose voice easily betrayed how delighted she was that the young blue-eyed blonde woman had been in a position where she could take a call, Beylani either having been preoccupied with exploring the eastern side of Sacrosanct while snapping photos as she went or perhaps being in the middle of a shower."I'm doing alright. I'm just at the café not far from the apartments. It's pretty busy in the mornings. When you and dad come to visit, we'll have to come here. The coffee is amazing and so are the baked goods", Beylani answers as her voice takes on an excited tone at the idea of seeing her parents again and taking them to Inner Sanctum and Hyde Park, hopeful that she would soon be able to share with them her favorite places she'd found here in this big city."That sounds like a wonderful idea. If you don't think you'll be too busy three Sundays from now, we should plan on doing just that. You know how much your father loves a freshly baked scone", her mother agrees with a note of amused laughter dancing across her words softly. It was contagious and Beylani feels her smile grow as a light chuckle ushers softly from her own lips."That would be perfect, mom. I'll make sure my agenda is wide open for you guys. How's dad doing?", asks the young woman as she takes her free hand to lift her caramel macchiato to take another contented sip."Oh, he's doing just fine. Busy working as always. That man never seems to be able to relax for long without taking on another project", her mother replies, her voice growing softer with that deep affection that she felt for the one Beylani had always been able to count on. After all, they say every girl's very first love is her father right? And while she knew this wasn't true for everyone, it certainly was for her. She hears the chime of the doorbell in the background through the phone now."That must be Cheryl. She's a bit early. We're going out to lunch this afternoon so I'd better get going. I'll text you later, Lani. Be safe, I love you!", says the older woman as the rustling sounds of a jacket being picked up accompanied by the jingle of keys echos from somewhere in the background."Okay, have fun. And stop worrying about me, I'll be fine. I love you too", Beylani replies and they exchange a quick "good bye" and the click of the call disconnecting rings in her ear. She lowers her phone to rest on the table now, suddenly realizing the small prick of homesickness that finds her in this moment. I need to think of when I can go home to visit. Probably Thanksgiving. If only Willowhaven were just a little bit closer to Sacrosanct.
Caught up in thoughts of home, of seeing that colonial style home against the beautiful greenery of that countryside hours away once more, Beylani hadn't even seen the man who walked into the café, the ringing of those bells that hung on the cloth draped over the door handle of Inner Sanctum announcing yet another soul seeking bliss in a cup. She is able to faintly pick out an exotic voice amidst the hushed murmurs of seated strangers around her conversing with their companions, but she does not look away from the outside world until the sound of footsteps drawing nearer. Baby blue turn to land upon the well built man with dark locks and startling emerald green eyes, a kind smile worn upon his chiseled features as he greets her in the accent she knew to be Irish, only having heard it a time or two through movies or TV shows."Not at all!", Beylani replies while she beams him a radiant smile of her own and gestures for him to sit in the chair across from her. Perhaps in a place like Sacrosanct, she should be more cautious of who she allows to be close, but as she studies the man there isn't even the smallest inkling that he was not as kind as the smile upon his lips. He seemed polite and just as willing to make a friend as the young woman was, something that didn't necessarily seem to grow in overwhelming abundance here in the concrete jungle but that could also just be her small town personality that gave such an impression of the many residence here. She extends her hand out to him in friendly greeting."My name's Beylani. What do they call you, stranger?", she speaks warmly as she watches him with bright and curious baby blue eyes. She wonders where it was he was from, wonders if perhaps he were from a far away place like Dorian was. Sure, others might think she were to friendly for her own good (and to an extent, they were probably quite right), but how could anyone expect to make friends if they never took a chance with a new and unfamiliar face? Life was about taking chances because nothing in this world was ever truly one-hundred percent guarenteed.
