East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

i used to rule the world

seas would rise when i gave the word

The Macedonian King was entirely unaware of that curiosity that ran through the young woman as those bright blue eyes stared at him with such sincerity and hope. She was so naive, so innocent and pure. It had been a long time since he had met someone so unjaded by the world at such an age. It both baffled the age old Dark Hunter, much less drew the man to the young girl. It had been souls like her that had convinced him to pick up the sword again and again, even when he grew bored of that continual culling of the supernatural that his order demanded of him. If it were any other cafe, and if he was any other man, he would have hired her in a heartbeat...but here, here things were decidedly more...difficult. Here, his very existence could put her in danger. It was not unheard of for his "work" to follow him home. At times the loved ones of those he had been tasked to hunt would make some effort to ransack the cafe in some misguided attempt at revenge. Calliel had handled it beautifully but...what of next time? Would she be capable of withstanding such a stressful situation with the same strength and poise?

A small frown crossed his lips in consideration of this very concern, even as he inquired of her intention for the rest of her life. Her future was important for a far more selfish reasoning. After all, if he intended to take her into the peculiar little fold of his baristas, he had to be sure that such effort was not going to go wasted. The cafe as atypical in perhaps this fashion just as it was in every other way. Alexander had a fashion of involving himself in the lives of his employees. From his romantic relationship with Alexis to his involvement with Calliel's maker and his own efforts to train her in the art of equine warfare. It was almost impossible for the King to remain a strictly distanced employer. It was a role that simply did not fit him well. What he didn't expect, however, was for a dream of photography to pour from her lips. It was a goal that was certainly difficult to achieve and yet, the Macedonian King was more than capable of inserting himself into even this if he so saw fit to. "Hm....that is not a easy passion to find success in..." He muttered and yet, he was well aware of how unrewarding such a field could be. They didn't call it a 'struggling artist' without reason.

He leaned forward ever so slightly, his elbows rested on the tabletop, his fingers interlaced within the air to create the perfect sort of pillow for his chiseled chin. Those sea colored eyes continued to watch her for a moment, that inner strategist easily considering her value to him, within both his company and his own life. Alexander could hardly deny that he liked her, truly, her honestly alone had awarded her with his good graces and yet, there was one finally inquiry upon his lips - one that continued to claw in the back of his mind with notable concern. That supernatural world that surrounded them would not stay secret from her long, not within this establishment. It was far better, he was sure, to get that plausible 'surprise' out of the way before she was directly confronted with it head on. That silent thoughtfulness only served to confirm his suspicions - that such a world had too been veiled from the young woman. Her hometown was likely so small that such a population had never made itself apparent. It was certainly not unheard of. A soft sigh left his lips at her admittance that she had, for some time, considered them to be little more the fairy tales. Still, he supposed at least she seemed open to the idea that such creatures could walk this earth. It was far better of a place to begin then those who blatantly refused to believe all truth presented to them.

Alexander paused, running his hand through his hair before he reached towards a drawer at his side. It took several moments for him to pull several of those pages from within, only to present her with those tax forms that the government required him to fill out for any new employee. "Pay is fourteen dollars an hour. It will be mostly part time but I'm willing to work around your schedule some if you need more work or less. You need to fill these out for me. Come in Monday at eleven. I want you well trained before you start the morning shifts. Calliel will be handling most of your training. I'll introduce you to her on Monday. We don't have a dress code beside the apron but...try to consider your attire. I don't want to have to implement something if I don't have to." Alexander paused, leaning back into his seat. It was altogether clear, he was sure, that he was offering her the job, the man hardly one to mince words or beat around the bush. After all, he was rather sure she wouldn't deny him now that she had heard the specifics. "Do you have any questions?" He finally inquired, giving her a final chance to ask anything that she might require before that interview was complete. At the very least, Alexander made his decisions swiftly and with assurance, though he doubted Calliel would find this newfound responsibility with the same level of enthusiasm as Beylani might find working at the cafe.
