East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Dorian AragonaHis Royal Majesty

It was, perhaps, quite an unexpected sort of question. He had met with Dareios on several occasions now, indeed he would surely venture so far as to call the vampire his friend and yet the pair had never truly conversed in any depth on those more emotional matters of relationships. Their conversations, usually, reserved to those of a more political nature or the matters of the city or indeed whatever curiosity it was Dorian so found himself taken with. This, perhaps, the first time the pair had ever ventured into such territory and yet Dorian quite found himself intrigued by Dareios own lack of companion. After all, the man was nothing short of dapper, well mannered and well-to-do all at once. Dareios the very sort of man whom, within his own time, would have been considered an excellent catch for any aspiring woman. That he was still a single man was altogether surprising and yet too, the Monarch so knew of those struggles that vampirism might pose in any long-lasting union. Still, he remained assured that Dareios had perhaps simply not met the right person yet, the Fae offering that very sentiment only to be asked how he himself had known he had met that metaphorical 'right' being himself. Dorian frowning slightly in contemplation as he took another sip of that wine, his gaze meeting the vampires own then.

"Do you know, Sebastian was supposed to be a one-night stand? No one knows this truth, it is not the story the papers wish to hear but that is the reality of it. We had both intended for that night to be simply fleeting. In nearly six hundred years I have met and dined with and bedded more men and women then I can count. Each of them holding my attention for those few hours alone before they became forgettable. Sebastian was not. In the near six centuries I have lived I have never once had a being consume my thoughts the way he did. I could not chase him from my mind even in the light of the next day- that had never happened to me before. I did not know then, but it was not terribly long before I came to realise he would not leave my thoughts for a reason- because he was the one. The one i had waited centuries to find. My sun rises and sets with him. He is my world."

There was little save for simple honesty within such words. Dorian hardly minding to share that emotion with the man beside him, that warm smile tugging at his lips. The Monarch so believing those words entirely. After all, in all those many years only Sebastian had ever been worth him remembering. Sebastian alone, in a sea of a thousand faces had stood out. Dorian had known and indeed so continued to know that he was indeed that one. It was the very mention of that chest and indeed Dareios offer to gift it to him that so drew his thoughts back to the present, the Monarch readily accepting such a glorious and generous gift. Indeed, he could so hardly wait to take it back to Sebastian for his fiance to examine in turn. Dorian rather delighting in those antiques. So much so he had taken it upon himself to bring at least one of those aged books with him this very evening to show his companion in turn. After all, Sebastian had enjoyed the sight of them, perhaps Dareios might in turn. Dorian still largely oblivious to the true celebrity his boyhood friend had found and the very awe his works seemed to inspire. Dorian's palace veritably full of Leonardo's early works and sketches and notebooks.

The well-aged book was handed carefully to Dareios in turn, Dorian leaning over to turn those delicate pages and display those sketches and notes penned in Leonardo's hand, that look of shock upon Dareios features near the same as Sebastian's own. The Fae assured he might never understand it. The Italian inquiring instead as to just what best might be done with them. A number already given to hose museums in Italy, perhaps a similar thing could be done with the works here? That assurance that he carried them around like willy-nilly met with a curious look.

"Who is Willy Nilly?"

That he had failed to understand the phrase and indeed believed Willy Nilly to be a person was evidently clear. Those more modern sayings often flying right over the Fae King's head as this one surely had. His silver gaze continuing to rest upon the man as Dareios mentioned that near delight the arts and history museum here in the city would surely take from housing something so valuable, the vampire even suggesting that he might surely be able to set up that meeting. Dorian own head nodded readily.

"Could you? I think that would be a splendid idea. I am to return to Italy in the next week or so for wedding preparations but once I return to this city I would look greatly forward to meeting with him."

This city had become a second-home of sorts, surely he could offer something back to it in turn, could he not? Dorian content to leave that book resting upon the desk for Dareios to leaf through if he chose.

"Do you find that you enjoy being Mayor? I know it is perhaps a curious question, it is merely that most of your kind so often seems to shy away from that spotlight, so to speak- but you do not. Forgive my questions I am merely curious, I fear it is within my nature. Do you not find it....difficult to feed when near every being in this city knows you?"

It was, after all, the very thing Sebastian had so come to find difficulty with, Dorian curious as to how Dareios managed it when surely the scandal off feeding on a member of the public would risk that very position he held.
