East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Raven was a girl. This was true. Yet if he thought she was that gullible to fall for his trick to play with her emotions then he was wrong. Growing up she was used to the false smiles, the polite looks thrown her way when she crept carefully around her own kind. She was well aware of their ploys to create a false security just enough to get her guard to lower before they sprung and attacked. It took time though. She had fallen for their tricks when she was much younger and it was difficult when she had to force herself to give up that any kind looks thrown her way were true. Perhaps that was why she was not falling for his bright and engaging smile, even if it was pretty. Though pretty faces were simply a façade that hid away the inner thoughts an individual had. That was why if she ever gave anyone some sort of smile or kind look, she made sure to mean it and not think any deceiving thoughts. Blue-grey eyes would lock on his dark chocolate ones as her scarred face remained apathetic. Raven was still learning how to trust Tobi and trying to deceive her with a smile was not going to help him at all. At the mention of his shoe eating and hiding actions a crooked grin appeared on her lips as she nodded her head. Really he shouldn't be doing such things, but at least it was harmless activities. It was when he commented on his mistreatment did she frown. Nimble fingers would intertwine themselves nervously as her slate eyes shifted downwards to her hands. One index finger traced the half-moon mark along her knuckles, evidence of when his he nearly bit her fingers off. The sleeves along her azure blouse were resting above her elbow; jagged scars etched deeply within her flesh as they zig-zagged up and down over her arms. Goosebumps began to appear along her arm as those dark memories suddenly flashed forward. She was all too familiar what it was like to be hit by others when they were angry. One hand would rub up and down her arm, a comforting manner to make the goose bumps go away, as somber eyes shifted upwards. Softly she murmured keeping her voice slow and steady, her voice low only audible enough for him to hear, as the waiters walked by and the patrons continued to gawk at them.

"I'm sorry she hits you...I used to...get hit...a lot. My pack...would hit me a lot."

It was not like her to mention anything about her past and really she had no desire to discuss such things. But she felt the need to at least mention that she understood where he was coming from. She may not be forced to be some sort of pet, but she knew what it was like to be mistreated. Whether he understood or not, she wouldn't know, but she assumed he wouldn't. So, it was safe to say something about her past in front of him, if he did not understand then he wouldn't pry. At least that is what she assumed and she could be wrong, but it was rare for her to ever be wrong. Luckily his inquiry allowed her to shake her head as she refocused on the new conversation at hand. A sheepish grin appeared as she thought back to her time stealing one of his boots. She had managed to get his other foot all by managing to tip him over. For such a fast Hunter he sure could fall into traps too easily. Now that she had a complete pair of his boots she could chew on them for hours. Nodding her head some golden curls fell along the side of her face, as she brightly chimed in.

"Azrael's shoes were leather...I like to chew on leather shoes."

As the men began to approach the two with their lunch she would timidly shy away and slowly move down her booth, a bit farther from them as they began to set the plates down. Warily she would sit up a bit straighter as soon as her waiter left, but she immediately tensed up when she noticed Tobi's waiter remained standing in place. There was no need to ask for anything else, both did not need an inglenook with their meal. Puzzled eyes flashed and suddenly widen as she noticed his hand grabbing onto the waiters shirt. Not knowing what to do or even what to say she simply stared, frozen. She shrugged her shoulders helplessly at the waiter when his eyes flashed towards her as he spoke. Though oddly enough his word was said without hesitance and it was broken. The tongue was familiar. Within her book collection there were some in different languages and she understood exactly what he was asking. Eyes narrowed as a harsh whisper was given to Tobi as the waiter left to grab the dishes of ice cream, deciding best to call him a cheater in the same tongue he had previously used.

"Tramposo."

Shaking her head, unable to correct this serious infraction to her desire, she lowered her head staring at her plate as a small grin appeared. Really how could she get after him? He was clever enough to find a loophole. If he couldn't get a treat from her then he would find a way to get it. Trying to hide the grin, she would take the silverware away from him as he handed it to her, not even going to ask why he was not allowed them. Clearly he must have had some sort of incident that would cause his Alpha to forbid him of such things. Ignoring his way of eating she quietly dug into her own meal, with silverware, trying her best to ignore the sharp hisses or buzzing comments that flickered back and forth between the other patrons. As the waiter set the bowls of ice cream down she was not surprised to see Tobi reach for his quickly keeping it on his side of the table. She would grab hers as well and place it near her plate, as she shook her head still trying to hide a grin. It was difficult to act displeased when really she was impressed with his trick. Picking up the spoon, she took a bite of the frozen treat flashing him a small smile, it was rare of him to show kindness or even think of others. So it should be recognized.

"Thanks for the ice cream."

The beginning of this lunch was indeed rocky, but finally they seemed to settle, but oh this moment of things going right wouldn't last for long. Raven knew they were almost done and she was hoping they could get out of here with only a few hiccups.

I'd Rather Feel Pain Then Nothing At All
