East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I'm about to make my own way, heaven help me keep my faith

When Kathryn had been no older than perhaps fourteen, she had gone to New Orleans with her cheer team for a competition. Although they were far from being old enough to engage in many of the activities the Louisiana city had to offer, that didn't stop the girls from going out and exploring the french quarter on which their hotel was situated. There was minimal adult supervision, the parents who came along clearly only having tagged along to enjoy the alcoholic beverage culture that New Orleans provides. For the most part, the trip had been all business, practice early in the morning, competition, then practice at night, but the girls had two days of freedom before they would need to head home. Kathryn grabbed some of her friends and they went out to the Quarter. There was unique art every where, voodoo shops, potions. Of course, Kathryn was unaware of just how deep the roots of witchcraft went in this aged city. One of the girls, Sara, spotted a person claiming to be a seer and suggested they all get their fortunes read. "Come on, it'll be fun," she exclaimed to her friends and the girl figured why not and went over to the booth. Kathryn, so unaware of the natural world, knew it was just a mediocre party trick and told everyone she would watch them get their fortunes read, but she didn't quite feel like receiving her own.

Silver blue eyes had resisted the urge to roll within their sockets as one by one her friends had their fortunes read. The first was told she would grow to an old age, but only find her soulmate later in life. The second was told she would find love early on, and the third was told that she would find great success in her career. "And what about you my dear? Care for a reading?" The teller asked, her dark eyes focused on Kathryn, as if staring into her very soul. For a moment, Kat had been unable to move, stunned by such an intense gaze, and those silver blue eyes that were so close to tilting upwards suddenly glitter with curiosity. Kathryn sits down and the woman grabs her hand. "You're a long way from your coven," the woman says and Kathryn jerks her hand back. "What do you mean?" Kat asked, growing defensive. The seer smiles then, knowing exactly who Kathryn was (having known since the moment she saw her), but realizing that the dark haired witch did not know herself the secret that lurked inside her. "My apologies," she says with a smile before staring into Kathryn's palm, and ask she speaks, the young witch is aware her voice sounds entirely different than it had with the other girls, dark eyes roll back slightly and she grips Kathryn's hand tightly as she speaks. "When you realize what you truly are wind and fire will collide once more, and you too take a hold of your sister's powers. Both sides will seek your help, but you must choose." And she finishes her words, returning entirely normal. Kathryn's eyes have grown wide and quickly she reaches for the cash in her pocket so that she could leave this woman as quickly as possible, when she reaches out and touches Kathryn's arm. "Keep it, this one was on the house, our kind needs to stick together." Nervously, the young witch had laughed before getting up from the chair nervously laughing about what had just occurred and about what a fluke that crazy old lady surely was. After all, Kathryn did not have a sisterĂ¢â‚¬"

Eyes turn from a warm summer's baby blue sky into a glacial chill as she meets his own as dark as coffee grounds. The young woman really did not even want to bother with him, she would try ignoring him but with his obnoxious hiss she knows that would be much too difficult of a task for her to ask for. Like a mosquito, his irritating, buzzing voice warrants attention. She narrows her silver blue gaze, delicate lines of confusion on her tanned face appearing as to why he would not have immediately taken the hint and simply left her alone. She shouldn't speak to him, she knows it will only encourage him. Pretty young features scowl cooly before she decides to humor him with her voice, her eyes staring directly into those fathomless dark pools for eyes, disdain for him already clearly evident. "Well I hope you like below freezing," she says coldly, even though her words hold a sort of elegance and refinement, attuned to the way her grandmother raised her, cotillion classes, country clubs, large banquets for her grandad's successful business. She may be frosty, but she was still a proper lady.

HIs chuckle, so smooth and casual from his lips, mixed together with that almost predatory mocha gaze of his. Kathryn turns her frosted eyes away from him, ill content to give him the attention he seems to so crave. He seems so unperturbed that he may have made the witch inquisitive into what his intentions were, but her interest only falters with his smug grin and brazen attitude. Promoting her hasty exit.

She knew. that she should not have looked back at the man with the dark, earthen eyes. For the briefest of moments she had felt the attraction build only to have it squander like a blanket smothering a fire. And she expects that to be the end of it, that's it. It was certainly not the first time that Kat had been hit on by some random dude at a bar, and she was very nearly assured that this would not be the last time it happened either, but what she thought was it would be her last time talking to this particular random dude.

Well, so she thought.

Velvety tones hit her ears like nails sliding down a chalk board with an alarming screech. He maneuvers his way towards her like a sheep dog singling out one of his flock. She can feel his earthen eyes on her with the intensity as any predator. But Kathryn is no prey animal and she doesn't need to watch his every move to ensure her safety from this dog, she wasn't going to run, but she was not about to let herself become a meal either.

It was like having a clingy puppy, he wasn't leaving her alone, following her steps right behind her. As Kathryn's irritation grows she can feel the wind beginning to pull at her. Where the breeze had only been slight before, it now is strong enough to tussle her dark hair. She breathes, attempting in vain to control it. She certainly inherited her gram's temper, along with her curious spirit and a bold heart. Oh well, couldn't expect her to inherit only the positive traits now could you? She does not answer him for some time, yet he continues to keep pace with her and finally she turns to his earthen eyes, a fiery glint, reminiscent of the fire that would come back to her, as she turns to him. "How about that way?" She says pointing in any old direction. "Because I am headed this way, and I don't think I will need an escort to get me there," she says and turns her shoulder away from him, continuing to stroll forward, icy blue eyes dead set on continuing forward, the wind continuing to pick up around her. Kat needed to get away from this irritation, or threaten a hurricane to come ripping through downtown Sacrosanct.
