The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

we built this city on broken glass
He enjoyed the company of clever people, quick people, the sort not afraid to lace their words with that touch of humorous wit Tahlia seemed to wield so effortlessly. The young woman picking up upon that joke within his words on commenting right back on the very state off his so-called humbleness. The idea of it alone prompting that touch of amusement to his otherwise toic features once more. She was clever. The quick ones usually were. How he enjoyed clever in a city filled with idiots. That spoon within his hand was twisted lightly ,almost absentmindedly, what remained of that pie little more then remenets now and yet it was clear enough the Icelandic man had enjoyed the dish sufficiently so as to finish it. Frost offering those easy words near suddenly then and yet, once more, his tone was hardly laced with any true harshness. The words given as more observation then statement- perhaps providing the barest of glimpses into his own personality that existed somewhere beneath that frosted exterior he wore like a shield. That vaguest of simpers touching his features again.
"The world has too much humility. It could do with a few more people un-afraid to admit to their talents. Why be ashamed of what you are or what you can do?"
Whether or not he truly expected an answer to those softly offered words remained to be seen, his violet gaze lifted from the finished plate before him to meet the green of Tahlia's own if only for a moment. For all the things that equine might well have been, a fool was hardly one of them. Frost eternally content to poke and pull at the very fabrics of the society itself if only to see if he could tease lose a thread to tug at and yet such words held little but honesty all the same. The stallion entirely inclined to believe those very words. The world did have to much humility. To many talented beings inclined to lessen their skills if only to blend in with the drudgery of those around him. Frost rather assured Tahlia was just one such person. A talented individual- determined to hide it. In the very least she made no effort to conceal her baking skill. How fortunate. The offering off his own name was quickly followed with that assurance he knew well how that very moniker seemed to agree with the shade off his hair. That a joke he had heard almost endlessly and one that seemed to prompt the lift of Tahlia's eye in turn before the woman simply insisted it suited him. Another phrase he heard decidedly often.
"So I've been told. Perhaps I should change it to Flame- if only to confuse people."
That very jest was delivered near smoothly, that quirk off his lips once more the only true indication he had been joking at all and yet that shift in his demeanor was surely notable all the same. Frost seeming to have contented himself in her presence enough to allow the slightest drop in those veritable walls. The war horse rather assured that Tahlia, like himself, was a distinctly private person. Those very pies, however, was perhaps a more pressing issue. Frost already considering a number of others he was assured might enjoy those tasted treats and yet he doubted she was capable of supplying as many as he might require. Tahlia near confirming as much as she returned to that brusque, business demeanor once more. The woman making only twenty or so pies a week in total. A sensible enough number for her business and yet he was inclined to wonder just how she might take his 'friends' appearance. Later, perhaps, he might indulge that very curiosity. For now his intrigue within her lay elsewhere, that very question of her pack direct and one, he knew, that had caught her of guard as what little off his violet gaze could be seen met the striking green off her own. Her reply was almost equally direct, curt- and yet not without information all its own. Frost hardly anticipating any less and yet it was those thoughts within her mind he was far more intrigued in. His affinity reached silently for those answers she hardly gave out loud and yet surely thought of. Those questions designed so specifically to allow him to pry into the depths off her thoughts. Frost nothing if not....cunning when he chose. Hmm. Perhaps she was hiding from someone. Perhaps he had been right without having to use any off his affinities at all. Tahlia insisting she was hiding in plain sight and had little intention of finding a pack.
"The choice is your own, I'm merely asking."
He offered the words simple, smoothly, his shoulders rolling in a noncommittal shrug all the same and yet the gesture was hardly harsh or dismissive. The stallion simply appearing unconcerned with her shift in attitude. As if he had anticipated it. Such curious thoughts that turned within her mind and yet he made no mention of what he could see. That query on his directness prompting the lift of an eye once more. His head softly shaking, amusement touching his features all the same
"No. In fact, most people in this city will only tell you what you want to hear. More's the pity really. Honesty is often far more entertaining. As for my directness- I am often not inclined to mince words and yet it seems neither are you. That is respectable."
His hand reached easily into his back pocket then, handing over those bills she had desired for the price of that pie. Frost pressing them gently into her hand then as he moved to straighten himself up, his fingers quite suddenly closing over her own, entrapping her hand, gently, within his own. The stallion allowing his head to tilt ever so slightly as if...curious of something.
"Hmm."
That very sound hummed within his throat and yet he released her hand near as quickly as he had taken hold off it. Just what he had been searching for remaining to be seen and yet that very simper upon his lips, brief though it was, perhaps gave away that very notion that he had been successful enough. How much he had learned about her how....little she had learned about him. Yet- how much more he desired to learn too.
"I have enjoyed meeting you today, Tahlia."
