East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

if these wings could fly for the rest of our lives
It was blasphemous, really, the idea that having friends could not assist in conquering all the challenges that she might face in the life ahead of her. Although Abigail was, undoubtedly, a self-reliant woman, she had always seen the strength to be found in companionship - at least in the old movies her parents had on tape. She had once dreamed of such relationships - of a best friend who would always support her, of the brother that would always defend her, of the boyfriend who would cherish her. They had all been roles lacking in the young woman's life until she had come to Sacrosanct. Well, at the very least they were roles she was beginning to fill now that she was on her own, even if she wasn't quite there yet. Even so, she merely provided Oliver with an almost knowing smile as that park came into view, the woman hardly chose to argue with that point just now, especially when far more intriguing things had caught her attention. A soft gasp left her lips at her declaration of ducks, the girl thoroughly fascinated with the waterfowl. Her excitement was near palpable as she considered, once again, befriending those ducks in the same fashion she so eagerly did everything.

The girl was hardly astonished that Oliver failed to see the same potential in them for friendship as she did. This, it seemed, was a topic he was staunch on, though why he hadn't eaten her when she was so small in comparison to his massive frame still remained to be seen. Maybe she could have been yummy too to the massive bear and yet, he had accepted her friendship readily enough hadn't he? His assurance that she could accomplish anything prompted a soft simper to her fair features - at least until the man informed her that patience was her greatest downfall. "HEY! I AM PATIENT!" The young woman exclaimed with clear indignance. She was quite certain she was patient enough to befriend the ducks! It was a challenge she had almost contemplated carrying through if it wasn't for Oliver's sudden insistence that though food would surely help with her endeavor, this meal was for them alone. Her lips pursed as if the young woman was considering it before a soft sigh left her lips. "Okkkayyyy." She muttered in clear disappointment - at least until Oliver's insistence that she was far more likely to catch a pigeon over those ducks.

Her nose immediately wrinkled at the mere sight of those fat birds, the very colors of their wings reminded her of...of...like...oil. His inquiry of what was gross caused her head to shake ever so slightly as she gestured to the city bird but several feet from them. "Pigeons. They like...eat...everything." She protested, disliking the idea of eating one of them. Thankfully, the fish nestled within those styrofoam containers were destined to be far better than any roasted pigeon. Abigail was altogether content to turn her attention immediately towards her choice of tables. It was hardly a difficult choice, as far as the young girl was concerned. She chose the cleaned table she could find, full in view of the ducks that drifted upon the pristine surface of the man-made lake. It was, admittedly, a rather serene moment. With the zephyr gently wafting through the trees and the chirps of birds surrounding them. This was, by far, the best lunch that Abigail had in quite some time - and she had only just started pulling out the food!

She reached into the paper bag to retrieve those dishes she had tormented the man within the first place, inquiring all the while if he really, truly had eaten duck before. Such a piece of meat was considered an exotic cut from where she was from. Ducks, after all, simply didn't exist so high up in the mountains. Her head tilted to the side as she considered the very flavor that Oliver talked of - something strong and rich. Frankly, she couldn't imagine a rich meat the very idea of it was fascinating. "I think I'd like to try duck someday," Abigail admitted with a small nod as she opened the container in front of him, revealing the fish that still steamed within. A small simper caught her features as she settled across from the man, his nose clearly twitching at the very scent of the fish. "It's called the beachside bar and bistro. I waitress there on the weekends." Abigail informed him as she pulled out the plastic silverware. That very inquiry of her own question, however, caused a soft sigh upon Abigail's features as she picked up her own fork. It was, she was sure, a complicated matter. Or maybe she was just making it more complicated than it truly was.

Her head bobbed slowly before the young girl started, her thoughts leaving her lips in a rush of unfiltered thoughts. "I met a pack last week and they offered to have me join them. I've never heard of a pack before. We lived by ourselves before now and there weren't any others...like us. What's a pack, Oliver? What do they....do? Can I say yes? They seemed kinda of nice but I told them I didn't want to join by myself cause...cause you're my best friend and I wanted you to come too! There's a coyote and a panther and I think the other one is an elephant...or a horse...or something..." She paused with a small frown on her lips in consideration before the young woman continued, "Have you ever joined a pack? Was it fun? Are you apart of one now? Or...would you...maybe...join me in this one? I told him I'd make up my mind today..." And there it was - all those questions that had been brewing in her mind begging for answers, answers she trusted only from Oliver himself.
