The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I still remember what it felt like the first time I tasted blood. It was an overwhelming experience. I killed many before I finally found the control to keep myself from killing every time. The world fades away and there's nothing but the heavenly feeling of blood sliding down your throat as if it always belonged there. I can relate to what she must be feeling right now but I also know that she'll never forgive herself if I let her kill Chaz. Not that I could care less about it being him. He's an asshole who writes off girls he's slept with like literal notches on his bedpost. And he wanted Isolt for next. I could see it in his eyes when he was watching her dance. I could watch his body slump and listen to the stillness of his heart anytime but not right now, not while he's with her because she could never forgive herself and some part of her would never forgive me for letting her. As long as I can keep that sin from her conscious, I will. She's fighting to keep her humanity and I don't have the right to take that from her. I didn't move her hair aside so I could use my powers of persuassion on her. Believe it or not, I haven't felt the need to do that to her since she was human. I know I could ask her to do whatever I want and maybe it would work, maybe it wouldn't. Some vampires have strong enough minds to repel my power but I don't feel the need to use it on her. I only want to see her eyes so I know she's listening to what I'm about to tell her. If I don't see her eyes then she'll still be entranced by the blood and she won't hear a word I'm saying. I watch her clench her eyes tighter, trying to resist but I'm patient so I can wait. Unfortunately, Chaz can't. When she does finally look at me, I can see the silent plea in her eyes and I know that she wants help with this. My smile is soft and reassuring, wanting her to know that there's nothing I'd like more. Finally I feel her grip slackening on his body as I pull him toward me, supporting him up. I feel her lean into my shoulder, melting into me like butter and its everything I can do not to drop Chaz's limp form and encircle my arms around her. I feel her hand curl into my shirt, drawing it across her mouth where a few droplets of blood have managed to gather. My eyes watch the gesture but I look away as I lick my lips, not wanting her to see the urge to lick it off myself. My shirt is black so the blood will hide well and since humans aren't attuned to the smell of blood like a vampire, no one will know the better. Isolt seems nervous after but I remain calm, knowing well how not to draw attention as Chaz started to regain some simplance of strength. He moves away from me, probably going to clean up as I instructed. He seems to be heading toward the bathroom anyway. I watch him stumble away before I turn my gaze back to her, my eyes still soft and comforting. Her words of gratitude have my smile lifting, widening as my lips crinkle. "Anytime." I whisper back as she makes a move to leave. I nod and follow in her wake, watching her every step to make sure she's not traumatized or anything from what just happened. I follow her gaze toward the horizon, watching the lightening sky. It'll be sunrise soon. She seems disappointed, probably because she has to go hide. I may take a nap and then travel around this afternoon. I'm still getting used to the whole energy absorption thing. She seems lost in thought for a moment and my brow furrows in concern. She suddenly turns back to me and I smirk as I glance back toward the house then back at her. "Yeah, he'll be fine. He'll put a band aid on it and tell everyone a psycho cat tried to give him rabies. He'll still want you the next time you see him." I give her a sly wink before I look back toward the horizon. "You've got a decent place to stay, right? I don't want to hear about you living in a cardboard box or something." My tone is playful but my eyes have a softer side to them more on the side of sincerity. |
