i used to rule the world

His blue-green gaze traced the fallen form of the rhino, all together aware of how Calliel's thoughts lingered on that well practiced maneuvered he had only just performed, one that had been the very ultimate demise of the beast before him. A glimpse of apathy crossed his features at those near pathetic sounds from the Rhino. Though he knew those noises were surely vocalized words for Calliel, and though it was within his capability to understand them with a single touch, Alexander had no immediate desire to learn the meaning behind those cries. There was, after all, no purpose to be found in such comprehension - it would hardly stay the man's death. It was Alexander's
duty, his very existence solely for the termination of creatures like it. It was the sudden movement of Calliel's head that drew the Dark Hunter from his own somber thoughts, her footfalls carrying them closer towards the creature, though Alexander made no move to stop her. Quite on the contrary, he slid from her back as she paused before the rhino. Even despite the rain that poured around them, the sheer amount of blood that stained the street guaranteed the Were's inevitable death and yet, it was too cruel even for Alexander to simply
leave the Rhino to his fate. His hand reached out, that spear the Dark Hunter favored simply materialized within his palm.
He hardly hesitated, that spear sliding into that large, gaping wound he had created mere minutes ago. His aim was true, striking at the heart of the animal. The roar of the creature informing him that he'd hit his mark. His spear twisted, surely wounded the Rhino beyond what his abilities were capable to repair. In moments, his heart would give out and with that certainty, Alexander's weapon all but disappeared from his hands. A soft sigh left the Dark Hunter's lips as he looked down at the fallen beast, simply watching, in those last moments, as the light flickered from its eyes. The rising and falling of its chest suddenly giving way to complete and utter
stillness. It was the snort of air leaving Calliel's nostrils that caused his head to shift ever so slightly, her hooves upon the cement drawing his gaze as her nose was thrust under his arm. With a tender touch, he stroked her forehead as he provided a rather rare word of praise for her assistance tonight. Without her, it would have been far more difficult to ensure the creature's demise without receiving his fair share of injury. The gentle nuzzle of her nose against his side prompted a small simper on his features and yet, that touch once again provided him insight into her thoughts of her Uncle. Azrael, hm? How well he knew
that man, even if the pair didn't often see eye to eye. Azrael, after all, quite preferred if he remained upon the sidelines of Dark Hunter affairs.
Her inquiry of the Council, however, caused his eyebrow to raise as her thoughts only further seemed to filter into how much trouble she would surely be in if the Council viewed her as capable of murder. A small glimpse of amusement crossed his features before Alexander shook his head ever so slightly. "I don't see anyone here to inform them of your assistance, do you?" After all, as far as he was concerned, the only individual to refute his account of the hunt was dead. His gaze shifted towards the Rhino as his eyebrow furrowed briefly. "Your Uncle might be....difficult to handle, Calliel. But it is only because he loves you. My children surely viewed me as just as insufferable." Few knew of those deceased families Alexander had made for himself throughout the years, at least, not after history wrote him off as dead. The memories of those lives lost were often too painful to dwell on at any great length and yet, perhaps Calliel might be capable of drawing some understanding and thus, a further connection with the only live member of her family. If only she knew how valuable such a thing was - before it was too late. His head shook as Calliel pushed him towards the cafe and after a moment, Alexander oblige her, his steps carrying him back into the sanctuary of the now dismantled building.
A soft sigh left his lips as he eyed the damage. There was no doubt that extensive renovations would be necessary to bring the building back to an acceptable state, the foundation itself nearly destroyed on one portion and, in turn, the building creaked in a fashion that was eerily daunting. It was with that simple touch that Calliel's thoughts once again filtered through his head and yet, slowly his head shook ever so slightly. "Everything I would have had is upstairs and I don't think it's safe to go up there right now. You should go home and get some rest Calliel...come by tomorrow morning and we can see to salvaging what we can of this and....rebuilding it." A small frown crossed his features as he eyed the mess. Though it was hardly a dent in his finances, simply
dealing with it was...irritating. Perhaps he would buy the building next to them and expand. It was an interesting consideration at the very least.
