Damon had to admit, he expected when it was time that it would come on suddenly and Isolt would be powerless to stop, but he didn't actually expect her to be shocked into a frozen stupor. With all her medical background and her usual calm, ready to take charge demeanor, he fully expected her to tell him what to do when the time came. And yet here they were. He could practically hear the wood of the pillar she clung to groaning before he was able to gently pry her fingers from its surface. His ears rang with distaste as she let out a sound when he hoisted her into his arms, hoping he didn't hurt her as he rushed her outside to the car. Luckily he'd been careful to park close every time they went out as the time drew near, wanting to be as prepared as he could be should something like this happen.
The vampire found his wits about him enough to dial their doctor as he drove, a master of multi-tasking as he raced through traffic, though still taking it easy for Isolt's sake. Her contractions seemed to be coming closer together and Damon didn't like the smell of panic in the air that came from his wife. When she suddenly jumped up to demand her phone to call Harley, it was only his quick reaction time that kept them from veering off the road as he jumped in shock and turned his gaze to her. "Uh, right now?" Sure, he knew that his wife and the dark haired human were practically inseparable, but couldn't she focus on delivering this baby safely instead of telling her friend what was going on? He was sure Harley would want that. He was about to insist as much before Isolt dived for his phone, clutching it as if for dear life as she dialed a number.
The words died on his parted lips as he watched almost in fascination. A twinkle of amusement found his gray blue eyes as he listened to the very confusing words that left his wife's gorgeous mouth. Thundercats?! He didn't even want to know. His lips tugged into a smirk, using his keen hearing to pick up on what was surely just as amusing words on the other end of the line. He and Harley might have their differences sometimes but he still found her amusing. He was almost disappointed when the phone conversation ended and the hospital came into view. An exhale of relief left his lips as he pulled around to the emergency entrance, racing around to grip Isolt firmly and take her to the nearest bed. He stepped back only to let Dr. Renee get a good look, though he stayed firmly at his wife's side to overlook everything.
The doctor called for a wardrobe change and he stepped forward, ready to oblige but the nurses had other ideas. They shooed him to the side as they carefully helped Isolt into the hospital gown and he begrudgingly let them, though the scowl on his lips was sure to let them know he wasn't happy about it. At least they were all women, cause there's be a definite uproar if a male nurse dared to come in the room right about now. The moment Isolt was back in the bed though, Damon was at her side, his fingers curling gently around hers as he raised her hand to his lips for a brief kiss to let her know he was here. Gray blue eyes found the doctor as she said that the baby was crowning and asked if Isolt was ready to push. His gaze found that of the fire haired love of his life then as she stared for a moment before finally whispering her affirmation. He felt his own breath catch as if it were him getting ready to do this, but no matter what, he was here to stay.
He leaned down closer to her, brushing his lips across her forehead. "Feel free to squeeze as hard as you need to." He assured her in a whisper.
