The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Whether she read her books, attended pregnancy classes, or looked up online forums, Raven didn't feel adequately prepared for the arrival of their baby. There were far too many possible scenarios that could play out. Would she successfully carry the baby to full term? Would the baby come too early and have to be in the I.C.U.? What if she lost the baby before it was even born? Although that chance was low after the first trimester, she knew it was still possible. After all, with all the terrible things she had to endure before, she wouldn't put it past her if Fate took the possibility of Motherhood away. What if during the labor, there were complications? With their modern science and technology, the chances of dying during or after childbirth were still possible. The thought of dying was a bit dramatic to think about, and yet she couldn't just cross that idea off the list of possible scenarios. So, Raven did what she could...she started making plans and being extremely patient. The young expecting mother did not voice these concerns to her husband. After being with Tobias all these years, she knew that having those sorts of discussions didn't go very well. So, she talked about it with Mira and Serafina, letting them help her sort her thoughts and give her a little bit of comfort.
One of her plans was to keep her husband entertained. He was infamous when it came to patiently waiting for things to happen. Knowing that they would be in the hospital for a while, she did her best to make sure that their 'bug out' bag contained items that would make her husband content with waiting. It seemed that her plan worked pretty well. While she laid in bed, reading a book and keeping herself calm, Tobias sat in his chair and dabbled with his tablet. However, as the night turned to the next day, and the contractions were hurting a little bit more than usual, she noticed how her husband's attention shifted from the tablet and then onto herself. Raven would reach out to hold his hand, attempting to reassure him that all was quite all right, especially when the other nurses came in to check on her. The last thing she needed was for her mate to attack one of the staff and go to jail. Raven wouldn't deny the feeling that her other half felt, as their spotted companion was overprotective. After all, wasn't that one of the qualities that both of their halves approved in him? When the moment at last finally came for her to deliver the baby, she knew she could no longer keep an eye on her mate. Raven would have to trust that he wouldn't cause any problems because now she had a much bigger thing to focus on - delivering their child.
Holding her husband's hand tightly, she went through the motions of delivering their child. Inhaling and exhaling as she needed to while pushing on command, her entire focus only on the need to deliver their child. The ordeal was quite painful and one that she couldn't quite describe. She would cry out in pain, whimpering when the pain she felt was far too much. It took time, but thankfully she delivered their son. Leaning her head against the bed, she couldn't help but smile in relief as she heard her son's cries. With a loud sob, tears continued to fall, the new mother overwhelmed. Lifting one hand she started to wipe away some of her tears as the Doctor came over to her bed, her son wiggling about in his blue blanket. With a wide grin, she watched as the Doctor came to the other side of her bed, giving Raven her first chance of holding him. As she held onto him, she watched as his bright blue eyes looked up at her, and only her. As her heart skipped beat, she could be an overwhelming flow of emotions shifting from joy, to sadness, to excitement and worry. For once it seemed that time was at a standstill. Raven was mentally soaking in this tender, and peaceful moment. Turning her head up slightly to see her husband, she gave him a satisfied grin, nodding for him to come closer so he could have a better look at their son.
Quietly she watched as he cautiously reached out to press his fingers to brush along the baby's cheek, impressed with how careful he was being. After murmuring to their son and uttering their promise to raise him well, she heard her husband's request. Back in their cozy woodland cabin, she gave Tobias a toy baby, so they could practice holding or changing his diapers. At first, he didn't care for it, but one day something just snapped into place, and he started to try. Even though Tetradore and Mira claimed that Raven wouldn't be alone when it came to raising their son, she could rely on them and the pack, and while that was true...they weren't going to be at the cabin every single day. And when they would all be back together again, in their new home, she couldn't go to them for every little thing. There would be things that, as parents, they would need to decide or do on their own. Blue-grey eyes shifted from their son and back to her husband when he shakily requested to hold their son. Looking back at their son, she watched as he wiggled slightly, his bright blue eyes looking to her and then in the direction of her husband. As he began to sit and bring the chair closer to the bed, Raven's thoughts raced on the prospect of giving him their baby. She doubted he would harm their child, and yet when they practiced with the toy baby, he did drop it, but maybe because this was the real thing...he would do well. Steeling her nerves, she shook her head, responding gently.
After Tobias situated himself in the chair close to the bed, she watched as he moved his arms in the correct position to hold the baby. Wincing slightly, she adjusted herself in the bed, with a firm hold on the baby as she slowly shifted to gently pass their son over to them. Gently she placed their son into his arms, one hand remained on the baby as Tobias adjusted to bring the babe close to him. Unable to keep leaning over, she adjusted herself to lay back on the bed, although her body was close to the bed's edge.
Wincing slightly, she rested her head on the pillow, looking over at Tobias and their baby, with a very soft smile.
