East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Raven Cain

It was such a surreal moment to see her husband holding their son. With the doctor and nurses out of the room and Raven no longer appearing stressed, her husband was no longer agitated. As their son began to wiggle, Raven slowly moved to assist Tobias but stopped herself midway as he adjusted himself to keep a firm hold on their son. With a small simper, she shifted towards the bedside table to grab her phone and use it to capture this picture-perfect moment. Wincing softly from the pain, she leaned into the back of her bed, assured she didn't need to be so finicky and trust him. After suggesting a possible name, she listened to her companion repeat it while she leaned in to gently stroke her son's forehead. As Tobias shifted to poke his finger at Rhett's hand, she grinned as he grasped firmly around his finger. With a chuckle, she nodded in agreement, softly murmuring.

"He has a strong grip, doesn't he? You know, I didn't consider the Rrr in Rhett to be like Raven. I can write his name down, but why do you want it?"

This particular side of him never addressed her as Raven, it was always Bird. Blue-grey eyes looked to see if a flicker of gold flecks were in his dark eyes, but there wasn't a trace of it. His request to have their son's name written was peculiar. With a nod, she winced slightly to lift herself slightly to reach in the drawer to fish for a notepad and pen. Placing the notepad on the table, she wrote out their son's name, then placed the pen on the table. Picking up the notepad, she turned it over for Tobias to see. His desire for the three of them to go home was sweet, but she answered with a shake of her head.

"I'm sorry Tobi, but we can't go home yet. Rhett and I need to stay here for a few days. The doctor and nurses want to make sure we are healthy and okay. Once they tell us it's okay for us to go home, we will, I promise!"

At this moment, the head nurse would walk in, pushing a pediatric crib into the room. She placed it near Tobias and quickly moved to the other side of Raven's bed, looking at the machines and murmuring gently. Understanding that she wanted them to give her Rhett, Raven looked over towards Tobi, one hand reaching out to gently squeeze his arm reassuringly.

"Tobi, the nurse wants to take Rhett and do a quick check-up and put him into some clothes, to help him stay warm. He'll be gone for a little bit, but they are going to keep him safe. Can you please place him gently in the bed? They'll bring him back to us in just a little bit."

Tilting her head in the direction of the pediatric crib, she let go of his arm so that he could gently place their son into the crib. As the nurse took their son out of the room, another one came in and started to help Raven handle the afterbirth. Eventually, the same nurse would come back with their son wearing a blue jumpsuit with a jack-o-lantern graphic on it, a matching blue hat, and wrapped in a blue and white blanket. Eager to see their son Raven quickly took him out of the crib, holding him against her, happy to have him back. Looking over to her husband, she gestured for him to join her on the bed, just wanting the trio to go back to bonding.

i'm not ashamed of my scars,
i'm ashamed of the world for not understanding.
