East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I wanna get stupid, I wanna get dumb

"Heh, yeah, it sounds like it was really good you had someone to rely on. I couldn't imagine how disorientating that would be to go from like person to animal to suddenly person again after so long. And in such a stressful way, man. Pretty cool of him to do that for ya." Harper was a bit jealous, she kinda wished she had someone she could rely on that much. Then again, she couldn't say she envied poor Malia's experience. She had thought hers difficult but shit. Then again, she was probably the biggest reason why she didn't have something like that. But that was too much introspection for her to be able to handle because then she would actually have to take responsibility for her actions. No, she wasn't sure she was ready for that. She much liked acting as though she had impunity for her actions.

One day Harper may heed that Malia was uncomfortable with the sudden embracing, touching, contact but this would not be that day. For her touching was like breathing, it was just something she did without thinking. She could feel the girl tense under her arm but when no words came to request she stop, her arm stayed where it was. If she were uncomfortable, she'd say something right? That's how it worked, right? Well, that was how she was going to believe it would work.

Harper couldn't stop that momentary look of confusion before the realisation (and memory recall) that - oh yeah, Malia may not actually know what that was. She had been a coyote for years and children don't typically know or care about what a driver's license is. "It's like something you're supposed to get to drive cars but I just never have." Namely because she's failed two tests so far because she "didn't pay attention" or "didn't understand a speed limit, use a blinker or mind the pedestrians" or some silly shit like that. Then again, what was the pressing need for a license when she didn't even have a car. Still, it was so much more fun to hide the truth that she just couldn't get a license by being absolutely flippant about the whole matter. It wasn't like it actually stopped her from driving anyway. She just needed a car to drive.

When Malia trotted off to get the coins, Harper hadn't noticed at first as her attention was following her eyes darting around the room, trying to take everything in at once. Her excitement was palpable, like a small child at Christmas, nostrils flaring slightly. When Malia popped back up with the coin dangling in front of her face - probably the best way to refocus her attention - the grin was returned tenfold. "Let's go shoot zombies!"

That arm, the one that constantly seemed to be thrown over Malia's shoulders, hooked Malia's arm as she pulled her in the direction toward one of the games, steps light and bouncy. Sometimes Harper wondered if the animal was made her so excitable, whether it had some sort of influence on her moods, those intense highs and lows - the moments where she found herself too wound up, too excitable, too high that she simply wanted to flee - but it was a question she had no idea how to answer. Was there even a difference between the animal and the human? Were they one and the same? She wasn't sure and it seemed a headache to try to sort. Shooting a digital zombie in the face seemed so much simpler and way more fun.

"You can shoot a zombie, right?" She glanced toward Malia as she asked, stopping them in front of one of the empty arcade machines, releasing her arm so she could grab one of the brightly colored guns on the machine. "Oh! I can get us more coins too if we need them!" For free too, she didn't add.

"Do you live with anyone else besides..." Oh crap, what was the name? "Jerr - no, uh, Haaarrr... Henry?" Might as well chat up her companion while they played. The conversation had been going so well so far.
