It felt like it took forever and only a millisecond all at the same time. On minute he was riding along, ready to lose himself in the roar of his Harley and the glow of the moon overhead. The next, he was skidding toward a multitude of deer on the road, on his way to a large hospital bill and an even larger garage bill. But all Taylor could think of in the moment was how he didn't want to hit the deer. Not because he was a huge animal lover or anything like that, but he certainly didn't want to waste the life of an innocent creature. His leg was caught under the bike as it dragged him along with it, slowing at the hooves of what had looked like just another deer in the fuzziness of his headlight, but now he could see it was anything but. The man's jaw dropped as he stared up at the magnificent creature before him. Like a horse and yet not, if the spiraling horn coming out of its head was any indication. He'd read the fairy tales as a child and had them acted out by his mom when he couldn't sleep well at night growing up, but that's all he'd ever believed them to be: Fairy tales. So now to set his eyes on such a creature....Taylor was dumbfounded. He forgot about his messed up clothes and his trapped leg as he stared up at the animal and tried to remember to breathe. "Um...uh...." He was lost for words, but what would he even say anyways? Not like the creature could understand him...right? |
