The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

From the moment she walked in, I could tell she was trouble. Not the kind that advertises it like a billboard, something even a blind man can see. No, she's the quiet kind, the ticking time bomb that just needs the right trigger to bring everything down around our ears. I can smell the magic in her blood, the one that makes her just as immortal as me without the undead twist. A hunter, how lucky for us that she chooses this pub to walk into tonight. Red on the Water has gotten off to a great start if I do say so myself. I was a little skeptical at first bout a pub that also serves good home cooked meals but since I actually enjoy cooking and I'd have to say I make some damn fine dishes, I couldn't pass up the chance to have some humans who can actually enjoy the food tell me so. The critics have already come through and I don't think they found us wanting. I made sure all the best staff was available and I think the men critics really enjoyed the cute waitresses I put on their tables just for a bonus. But other than food, there's still plenty of fine liquor to keep you hydrated so at least there's that. I keep some secret Bourbon stashes in the back too for my own personal enjoyment. I eye the girl as she walks to the bar, noting the fresh injuries on her otherwise pretty face. She's been in a fresh scuffle and I'm guessing the other guy didn't get off so well if she's still walking. There's probably a new pile of ash on the ground with her signature. She seems to be new to town though since I don't recall ever seeing her around before. Glancing around, I make my way over, pushing back behind the bar where I dip my head to the head bartender, Mike. As he cleans a glass, he nudges his head toward the girl and whispers. "Watch that one, boss, she's a pistol." I smirk in response. "Thanks for the warning." I murmur back as I walk over and lean across the bar, meeting her gaze with my own steely gray one as I slide her beer into her grasp. "I'm glad women are standing up for their rights now a days. It's really tragic when a man chooses to hit a woman." My eyes twinkle with mischief since we both know why he wanted her dead. Probably the same reason she wanted him dead too. I just need to gauge what kind of hunter she is. Does she kill for the joy of it, just because they're different or does she kill for the right reasons? I don't want any trouble in my bar tonight but I don't mind a little smooth talking if she has the right attitude. |
