East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Hold on to this lullaby; even when the music's gone

It was like a warm summers day, the smell that the sugar and chocolate evokes in her. It is sunshine and the bubbling of the brook, it is piles of leaves that cover her up and leave her laughing. It is good times and she can't help but feel a pain in her chest of what will never be again. Blue-eyes follow the shift of the people inside, the ebb and flow as they ordered, received and either left or sat to enjoy it. Not one gave her a second glance as they walked by and she was grateful for it.

She was pretty sure that standing barefoot outside of a café wearing her bloodstained clothing was something that would get the authorities involved in. Were those a thing? Or were they just made up? She thought she had caught a whiff of silver as she all but pressed her nose to the glass, she wrote it off though, she was in the city and the city smelled of metal. It was perfectly normal to sense all different sorts of it, right?

She wanted to say that she noted the footsteps; they went away and came back. But that was definitely not the case. She had tilted her head, staring into the display cases near the counter and was attempting to figure something out. Instead, his voice rang into her ear and she nearly jumped a foot in the air. Her brain twisted in on itself, warning her to be careful, that her previous instincts had been right and silver had been in the mix. If she hadn't been so stunned by his sudden (re) appearance she would have been backing up in an attempt to put distance between them. She sucked in a breath, shoving her hands in her pockets, "I didn't meanâ€"Iâ€"Oh." She stumbles over her words, pulling her bottom lip in to chew on it for a moment as she gathered her thoughts.

"Yes," This time her words are almost silent and she clears her throat to try again not sure if he had heard her. She closes her eyes and counts back from ten and when she reaches one she opens her eyes to settle back on the man, "Yes." And finally, "You're one of them," It isn't a question, merely a statement.

Her gaze is drawn back towards the display cases and then back to the man, she furrows her brows for a moment before looking back at him, confident that he was clearly the owner. "How do they do that?" She asks, poking the window to point at some chocolate covered-something's and she was sure they were filled with something too. Totally forgetting that she should be far away from him at this point.
