East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The supernatural city provided a wealth of opportunities that were unmatched by any other city the professor had ever run across. That statement alone would induce a generous amount of surprise as the professor, in all his years, had traveled to a great many cities in search of the culture and excitement that only far off lands could provide. As time had led him further into his age and his youth had been depleted, Nolan Donovan began to seek company of those who might understand his supernatural affliction instead of relying on his initial, home community for companionship. It had been difficult to leave his teaching post at the University of Dublin, and even more difficult to wave a solemn and potentially merely temporary goodbye to his home city of Glasgow. Neither of these goodbyes had put a halt in the professor's mission to assimilate into a city that accepted his kind with more open minds, though. And instead of continuing as a professor with tenure at the prestigious university, Nolan traded his home in the United Kingdom for an apartment desperately reminiscent of his study in his quiet cottage in Ireland.

Content with the knowledge that he would find a job, a home, and a place in the city of Sacrosanct, Nolan had journeyed to the quaint city, more than happy to move his haphazard life into a place where those around him might not think twice about the visual a grazing Alpaca might provide one in the morning. Who were the teachers to have called animal control on him, anyway? The professor had been minding his own business, taking a leisurely stroll around the university when the suddenly, there was a rope around his neck. It wasn't his fault that they hadn't been prepared to see an animal native to the Southern Americas roaming the university grounds... Surely, the staff should have been more open minded. It was an institute of higher learning, anyway.

Thoughts of general social acceptance aside, it was early in the evening when the man finished unpacking his belongings. Right on schedule as he had thought he would, Nolan finished drinking his tea that had prior served as an oracle for his day. Dinner was necessary next. In his tea leaves, Nolan had been instructed that he would finish his day in a pub that was located suspiciously near his abode and that this pub would bring him a sense of joy that had been unprecedented in this city. Granted, Nolan offered himself the respect that he hadn't been in the city long enough to have much of a measure for something exciting him, but dinner... Now that had his attention. With his tea aside, Nolan found himself bumbling down the city and following a tune incredibly reminiscent of home. The sounds jostled a desire for beer and merriness, so who was the professor to turn himself down?

Red on the Water was emblazoned in the sign noting the pub's name. Nolan stepped into the building with a budding sense of renewed youth, an impish glint sidling its way into his generally wise eyes. The bartender looked like a delightful young woman, and in a moment of public good-manners, Nolan removed his hat and slipped onto a seat at the bar in order to be able to view the live Celtic music that almost had his feet tapping. "Gimme a taste of all the brew you've got, my dear!" Nolan declared, winking jovially at the bar maid.
