The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

With one hundred floors and a 125-foot spire, the Starlight Tower rises high above the Sacrosanct skyline. More than just a landmark, the Starlight Tower offers a unique mix of restaurants, shops, and offices spaced throughout the building. Organized into nine verticle zones, each of which features a sky lobby and a light-filled garden atrium which merge the upscale interior with a faux landscaped exterior setting.
I can sense Isolt's growing tension as I pry for information about how they met and yet it only makes me want to know more. Why wouldn't she want me to? But of course this intense curiosity ends up battling with my notion of Isolt's safety and knowing that I'm causing her discomfort is disappointing. She remains in motion even in her silence, pouring the Bourbon, her hands not even shaking, but just one glimpse into those crystalline eyes is enough to let me know that she's immensely bothered. I know how to read her all too well it would seem. I note too the look she gives me as she gets the Bourbon and then sits heavily in her chair as if waiting for a jury's sentencing. I hate putting her in this position and I know before Davante can even talk that I won't push no more on the subject if only to get back in her good graces. She finally speaks up, telling me that they met in his shop and he made her a knife. I raise a brow in question at Davante now. "Making gifts for vampires? How...socially accepting of you." The smirk on my lips is teasing cause we both know how he feels about vampires, or at least how he felt about them before he met me. When I hear Isolt say that I had something to do with it, I snap my gaze back to her in uncovered surprise. "Me? I plead the fifth." I say with a playful purr to my lips. She looks down at her drink then, saying that's why she owes him a drink though I'm sure now more than ever that something else happened at the shop. Instead of prying though, my jaw tightens and instead I offer something else. "Must have been quite the knife." I murmur as I drink from my own glass. Davante finds a seat to sit in as well, giving me a smirk as he says that he doesn't want my background check and I probably wouldn't like his recruiting techniques. I chuckle, my eyes darkening. "Well if they're anything like your strategy at playing darts then it might just be the best technique yet. I may have to sit in on one of these recruitments and see for myself." I offer him a grin as I take another swig of my drink. When I tell him he wouldn't like blood, he tells me that he must try it now and I smirk, though I don't understand why he pushes for it when we both know he'll find it distasteful. He snorts and grabs his nose, bringing a humorous gleam to my eyes as he agrees that he's sorry to disappoint in Isolt's story. As he looks at the cake, I move over to the desk, picking up the knife I had laid so delicately beside it. I cut easily into the cake, dividing out three pieces and putting them on plates as naturally as I hunt. I hand out the plates and lean back against the desk as I put he fork through my cake. "Tell me how you like my special recipe." I wait for him to take a bite, knowing fully well that I made the cake for the taste Isolt and I share, not a witch. The icing and cake mix are harmless but I put some crimson filling in there that will definitely ive him a taste of that challenge he was talking about only moments before. I wait for the taste to find his tongue before I say in a sly manner. "And consider your wish fulfilled. How does the challenge taste?" |
