The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Ain't No Rest for the Wicked How the times had changed. The world had changed its colors hundreds of times since the moment of my birth, offering me a different palate of colors every time I opened my eyes to another day or another moment. I had never expected to be seeing the shades I was offered now, their tone dampened by the thin darkness that Nadya's club offered. The lighting was carefully chosen, I presumed, to showcase bodies of currently nonexistent dancers who would, one day, make their way over the stage that had been built as the center of attention for the club. With less than calculating eyes did I survey the room while awaiting the presence of the matron who heralded owner of the burlesque, hands gently clasped and folded against my being until the sound of metronomic clicks against tile offered announcement of her presence. "Indeed," I began, my voice a melodious sound in harmony with the greeting Nadya offered me. "Lyrica Zvaniga-Guaire," I offered, finding my delicate fingers slipping against her own in a manner of orientation. She could use all the workers she could get? It struck me, plainly, that perhaps the woman didn't have too many stipulations besides an expendable body and a willing hand. The idea to have expendable limbs around struck me as smart, considering it was no secret that the woman had recently given birth and her time was stretched to what must surely have been its limit. With a polite smile, I nodded in kind to her suggestion that we step away from the foyer and into a quiet area to discuss a potential employment opportunity for me, my blonde hair loosening from the bun it had been tucked into. I slid into the chair opposite Nadya with a definitively comfortable ease, my eyes softening slightly as her smile grew in a friendly manner. "Honestly, I've served my time in almost every position in a bar you might imagine. Bartender, bouncer, dancer, promoter, musician..." I trailed off, offering a kind smile of my own. "I would enjoy any of those positions if you have available employment." I would have loved more than anything to step back on a stage. In a previous lifetime filled with vibrant colors and sounds and images almost too brilliant for memory I had been able to dance on a stage decorated with the colors of my court, of my queen, of my home... And now, with that life a distant memory I found myself allowing my eyes to wander the stage that had been developed for use in the club. Amused and particularly tickled with the idea of a burlesque and how Vadris, my king, might see this job, I allowed my smile to become far more mischievous. "I have a certain set of particular talents that allow me to render many incapacitated which served me well as a bouncer. As I said, though, I'm merely happy to fill whatever position you might have open. If I may; what made you decide to open this club, here?" Lyrica Irene Zvaniga Until They Close Their Eyes for Good |
