East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

kissing death and loosing my breath
In truth, the young woman was far too distracted by the somber thoughts that hung heavy upon her to noticed the ebony figure standing just on the other side of the bar. His intangible existence was hardly noted till the wisp of umbrage gingerly reached out to touch her shoulder. The sensation alone was fleeting at best, no more then a vague temporal brush against cloth - almost resembling the brushing of wind. She almost thought nothing of it, that is, if it wasn't for the familiar sensation that came along with it. Slowly her grey tinged gaze rose to stare at the corporeal figure in front of her, a small frown marring her angelic features. Serafina knew that shape all too well. Her gaze hardly had to travel far before landing upon the masculine figure she knew would accompany the shadow. After all, the two were bound by some unseen string - where there was one, the other was sure to follow. A soft sigh left the girl's sweet heart lips her hand reaching up to run through her dark, ebony locks. She was unsure as to what she thought of the fellow so near to her. Their evening within the darkness of her basement had become imprinted upon her mind - somehow tarnishing the thoughts she had of him. Her lips pressed together ever so slightly as he too begun to notice her, their eyes meeting for but a brief moment.

She hadn't yet considered the possibility of seeing that man again. He hadn't returned to her townhouse since that fateful day and as of such, Serafina widely suspected that he would never return again. She could hardly fault him though. She doubted she would react just as well if her private life had been forcefully peeled open for him to intricately inspect. A soft sigh left her lips as she shook her head ever so slightly, she couldn't rightfully condemn him for his past. After all, her own past varied quiet greatly from the life she lived now. She was no longer a kid running on the streets - stealing and manipulating to get to the next day. A soft snort left the girl's nose as her grey tinged gaze shifted from the man to the shadow that tended to accompany him. "How unsurprising - he's quite like his conjurer in that, you know. Always needing to rock the boat." She replied almost curtly though there was no true anger behind her voice. She was exhausted, and quite frankly, if she truly admitted it to herself, a little cranky that he hadn't come back to see her either. Then again - lately it seemed that not many did.

Still with her ordered glass in front of her, she couldn't entirely deny her company, even if she wasn't quite sure what to say to express those emotions that fluttered through her chest at the sight of him. "Did you know..." She started, reaching out to gingerly pluck her shot glass from the bar she let the vodka slide down her throat in one smooth motion before softly placing the empty glass back down in front of her. "That if you count for inflation, it'd actually be around $2.50...or...say a McDonald's Happy Meal." Where she had gathered such useless knowledge was questionable in itself but it was far easier then voicing the real thoughts on her mind. She wasn't even sure he was really all that interested in hearing them to begin with. It took her a moment before she had composed herself enough to put her thoughts together. Her gaze stared at the wall behind the bar, her eyebrows furrowed before she commented in a fashion that seemed far more off hand then she really felt, "If you don't want to see me again, I can leave. I didn't know this was one of your haunts."
