The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Samantha Cassidy
For several moments, Samantha kept herself quiet as she thought about the question that he'd just asked her. He'd asked the question innocently enough, as though he was genuinely concerned about the answer that she would provide. Still, she wasn't sure the extent of the truth that she should tell him. After all, the woman that she worked for was his sister. Samantha didn't know the extent of the relationship the man had with his sister, or how protective he'd be of her or her establishment. She thought briefly about giving him a false version of her circumstances, but she'd found that ever since she became fae, her ability to lie was incredibly sub-par. "It's... I..." Samantha stumbled out, finally giving the boy a shrug. "I don't hate it, exactly." She shifted the mug of tea in her hand, focusing on the way the brown liquid sloshed around rather than looking at the man. "I mean, Nadya is amazing. She's so kind to me and pays well and..." She glanced up just slightly, giving him a sheepish smile. "I do have a place to live now, don't I?"
She dropped her gaze back to the tea as she thought of how she would explain the parts of it that she didn't like. "I'm no good at the dancing part. I'm a decent waitress, I suppose. It's just... with my..." She trailed off, clearly not sure how to respond. She looked up at him once again, allowing the vulnerability that she so often hid from everyone to be evident for just a moment. "After what happened to me, I don't trust the faeries. Even though I'm one of them now, I still can't trust them. And the other girls know that. They know that I know nothing about what I am, or how to manage it. They're not exactly the fountains of information that Nadya hoped for me. They don't share unless they're asked directly, and I don't necessarily trust them enough to want their help. After all," Samantha gave him a small smile that was anything but genuine. "I've lasted a few years on my own. I'm sure I'll do okay."
It was only seconds after she'd spoken out the feelings she read off him that they shifted. That guilt and sadness changed to suspicion towards her, and it was enough to bring the girl's hand back to her lap. She explained her power carefully, making sure that she exposed no more of it than was necessary to bring the man back to ease. Still, he hardly seemed that concerned by it all, seeing that his attention immediately shifted to the technicalities of her power. She let her eyes settle on his as she listened to his question, taking a breath as both his and her emotions settled back to something more familiar. Samantha shook her head slightly. "No, I haven't noticed," She said honestly. "I mean, I can tell that your emotions are more vibrant than a human's, that's for sure. Though as far as a difference between the species themselves, I haven't noticed. Though, that might be because my only real interactions with the supernatural are at the club. It's... more difficult for me to pick out individual emotions there," She explained. "I can do it, but it's harder. It's kind of like being able to separate a single drop of water from a tidal wave."
Samantha set her mug down, wrapping her arms around her legs as her chin rested on her knees. "It's very overwhelming," She admitted. Despite her aversion to speaking about her power, or anything that might give away a bit of weakness within her, there was something about Aiden that she trusted so deeply. He'd saved her life, and she owed him the full extent of the truth. Even if that gave him power over her. "I think that's why I like you so much. Most people are shaky. Their emotions fluctuate and go back and forth. But yours are usually steady. I get bursts from you. Happiness, sadness, amusement. But then you go back to this... it's not exactly emotionless, but it's just steady. It's soothing. Comforting." That blush found it's way back onto her cheeks again. "I feel safe around you. It's why I wanted you to stay so desperately last night, and why I'm so glad you're still here."
