The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The young woman did not even notice that night was falling around her. The project she had started on was complete, therefore she needed to start on the next one. She had the time, no place to be tonight, and it would be a wonderful paycheck to finish her week. Survival was dependent on how many reports she could crank out, how accurate she was, and the results her contractors later came up with. If she did her job well and she did it fast she could retain services and keep consistent work. Nothing came easy in the real world. Her eyes were squinted in the growing dark at the numbers. The sun was completely gone and the autumn chill was starting to settle around the world. Everywhere except for the area within direct proximity of Amaya. Weather gladly shifted to help her keep warm while she worked. Even though her hot chocolate had long turned cold. All at once the unnatural warmth around her was shattered by the approach of a vampire. A creature of the night and darkness cutting through her power as though it were nothing. The hair on the back of Amaya's neck started to bristle as the all too familiar feeling of fear started to creep up inside her. Taking a deep breath she clenched her eyes closed for a moment before looking up into the face of Vienna. Automatically, the witch smiled at the pretty woman, her stomach twisting with something other than fear. Her nature overpowered her fear with a soft chuckle. "Come closer and you might be able to see if the taste matches the smell." Her face paled at her own words. She had basically just invited a vampire to bite her. "No! Gods! Wait!" Her eyes widened, but she shook her head. The uneasiness around vampires and other 'dark' creatures made her a completely different person. It was a fear she was determined to somehow overcome. "Please don't bite me." Her pierced lip twisted in a sly grin, the mischievous woman starting to peek out from behind her fear. "Unless it is in the friendliest of manners." |
