East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Her nerves were palpable, he had drawn out even responding to her, and his acute hearing picked up the rub of her clothing on the fabric of the chairs. The fingers on his flattened hand twitched ever so slightly, drumming a brief rhythm on the table for but a moment before they returned to stillness. He made a note of her studying his tattoos, it was a common thing for most people to do, they were often a talking point and something of interest â€" it wasn't often that you came across someone with such garishly coloured flesh.

As he had studied her delicate features, he had paid little attention to the movement of her hand only noticing when the contact was made, his fingers twitched in an instant reflex. Surprised at how bold she was, to reach out and touch the lettering just beneath his knuckles, he didn't stop her merely raised one dark eyebrow at her. His gaze fell to the tattoo she had just traced, wriggling his fingers ever so slightly as he too studied the artwork, often times he didn't pause to contemplate the ink covering his skin, they had been a part of him for so long that generally he barely noticed them.

Huffing softly through his nose he offered a lazy shrug, her apology accepted almost instantly. "It's cool, it happens a lot. Usually drunks though." Often the questions were ridicule, asking him why on earth he had "Marlboro" tattooed across his knuckles, it had been a spur of the moment decision â€" a word that fitted nicely, and it happened to be his favourite brand. Though it had been a bit odd to have it there when he had decided to give up, a choice that was short lived by all accounts. Flattening his hands and studying the ink closely, he smiled wanly, remembering the life he had back with his friends and family. "I got them back in Cali, there's a guy called Grant â€" he does awesome work."

He couldn't be sure if this was a ploy to bring him out of the rut he'd found himself in, but talking about his tattoos was something he was keen to do. There wasn't much of a story behind them, but they were fun and probably his favourite part about himself â€" aside from his other form and the freedom that came with it. However Kenzi was already off on another tangent, chattering animatedly about her arrival in the new city and all about her favourite drinks â€" though he was often observant and keen to check his surroundings, out of politeness, Ian focused his attention on the delicate girl opposite him.

But he was aware that there was no input he could really give, he didn't have a favourite drink. So long as it was warm, he was absolutely fine with it. The cold was just something he didn't deal with, at all. There was something childlike and goofy about her behavior, that kept endearing him to her further, she behaved very much like he did when he had first welcomed Avi into his house, eager and animated to be making a new friend and the giggle she gave at his smile was enough to force a truer one forward, she was bright and bubbly and unabashedly happy. She knew how to make someone feel better, that was for sure.

Shaking his head, he returned to his drink â€" letting her lead the conversation, she seemed to do a much better job at it than he did. For all he could be the life of the party, in his down time Ian was often quite quiet, his entire demeanor was lazy and laid back, a stark contrast to the vivacious outgoing girl that had thrust herself into his life today.

A bemused look washed over his face as he held his palms open and shrugged lightly, "I always got told black was slimming, thought it was every girl's colour. Shows how much I know." She painted an impressive picture of her caped crusading and he could easily picture her donning a spandex outfit to stalk the night â€" though, he found it unlikely to work in this city. He'd had plenty of run ins in the past few weeks and the almost pure smell of the girl, no underlying scents that would nod to powers or any animalistic traits that could signify her as a type of were, made it clear that she was likely to be one of the more vulnerable inhabitants of the city â€" though he didn't fare much better.

Snorting softly he quirked an eyebrow once again, tutting to himself as he settled back in his seat, muscular arms folded against his chest. "Hey you're the one going on about the moon glittering on a red superhero suit, you can be Robin, I'll go with the bat suit any time."
