East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

((dress reference))
There were very few Saturday nights in which Samantha was able to take off work from the burlesque. Like any promising establishment, the weekend proved the busiest nights, and Samantha was almost always there deep into the late hours of the night. Tonight, however, all the faeries were abuzz with the knowledge of the mayoral candidate's gala that was taking place this evening. The burlesque had been dreadfully slow, and Samantha had decided that the best thing that she could do for herself for the evening was take the night off and enjoy a night in with Dorian. She'd just sat down on the couch in her pajamas after sending Dorian up to change into his own pajamas when the knock at the door caused her to nearly jump out of her skin. "Dorian?" She called out as she pushed herself to her feet, tilting her head towards the stairs. "Did we actually order that pizza, or did we just talk about it?" Still, the woman didn't hesitate as she opened the door. Seeing the Beta woman on her doorstep was certainly surprising, and for a moment Samantha merely stammered in confusion as the woman pushed past her and into the space.

"What are you doing here?" Samantha asked, watching as the woman dropped the pile of clothing onto the couch. If there was anything that Samantha knew for sure, when Nadya put her in clothes, there was something to be anxious about. And ah, there it was, the Gala. "I know," Samantha repeated immediately, shifting uncomfortably. She certainly felt underdressed compared to the woman beside her, even if Nadya was not dressed extravagantly. "The girls were talking all about it. Most of them wanted to go but didn't get invi..." The woman was hardly surprised when Nadya cut her off, explaining that Aiden wouldn't go to the party. Samantha hadn't asked her boyfriend if he was going, though truly she was hardly surprised that he wouldn't. She couldn't imagine her leather jacket wearing man in a suit, just as she couldn't imagine herself in a fancy dress. When Nadya demanded that Samantha had to go, the girl immediately put her hands up to protest. "Woah, no. No I do not. I don't care who is mayor." Still, the woman hardly hesitated as she began to hold up all the dresses to Samantha's body. It was clear, even to Samantha, that there was no room for debating tonight, no protesting.

Even though the girl was internally grumbling through the whole process, she gave in and allowed Nadya to guide her upstairs and into her bedroom. She did, however, complain about a few of the gowns, refusing to put herself into any of the gowns that were too risqué. She'd complied to the gown that was wiggled upon her frame, and even though it showed more skin than she was comfortable with, she couldn't deny that she looked beautiful within it. The dress was backless, the lace that covered her front giving her the smallest amount of modesty. The sheer blue fabric that started at her hips and went straight to the floor seemed to sway with every little motion that she made. For a moment, she stood in front of the mirror admiring herself, only looking away when Nadya presented her with the tiara that she slid into Samantha's hair. "Wh... a tiara? Isn't that over the top?" She was spared any answer by the appearance of Dorian, sure that he was about to make fun of her appearance when Nadya asked who exactly the male was.

"Oh," Samantha snapped into action as she walked over to the male, affectionately placing a hand on his arm. "This is Dorian. He's my roommate. Also my second in my monarchy." She looked at him, then back to the woman. "If I have to go, I insist he attend as well." After all, if there was anyone you wanted by your side at an event like this, it was a 15th century prince with an eye for etiquette. She was lucky, perhaps, that Dorian had insisted on the suit on one of their shopping trips, serious as could be when he'd insisted he'd find somewhere to wear it. She'd obliged him, even if it was just to keep him quiet in the way you would with a spoiled child. She'd hardly anticipated that he would be using it so soon.

Once the trio was properly dressed, none of them hesitated in walking down the eternal staircase â€" the elevator was still a terrifying experience for Dorian, so Samantha avoided it in his presence â€" and right out to the sleek BMW that Nadya drove. "Oh, he won't," She began, though Nadya was already in the car. She turned to her companion, putting her hands on his shoulders. "Dorian, look at me. I know this is going to be scary, but I need you to be strong for me and get in the car." At that, she gently pushed the faerie king in the vehicle before she climbed in herself. She too was annoyed by the screaming from Dorian, though she was more annoyed by the way that Nadya threatened her best friend. "That's enough," Samantha said sharply as she looked at Nadya. "You will not talk to him like that. He is my second, as you are Aiden's. You are equal in every way and you will treat him as such."

Fortunately for all parties involved, the drive was short and before Samantha was fully ready, they were walking inside the establishment, Samantha's hand tightening on Dorian's offered arm as she clung to him for support. The woman felt anything but comfortable in the crowd. There was the awkwardness for the new faerie queen in general, followed by the overwhelming sensation of the emotions pressing against her skull. She shook her head as one of the waiters offered her champagne, waving him away as she pressed closer to Dorian. "Don't you dare leave my side tonight," She muttered under her breath to the male before she looked at Nadya, the woman visibly wincing from her warning. "I'll do my best."

The man that appeared near them caused Samantha to smile, hardly affording the male any hostility. After all, Frost had been nothing but kind to her. Though, she had to admit, his presence near her made her skin prickle, the faerie queen's eyes raking the shadows for potential threats. But Frost's attention was on her for but a mere moment, the man's fingers brushing against Nadya in a way that seemed entirely too intimate. "Oh," She whispered, more to herself. The conversation with Nadya in her office seemed to flood back to her. The way the two looked at each other only helping to further her ideas towards the pair. "No," Samantha spoke up, stepping up beside the woman as Frost asked the question of the woman. "No, she's not. But she is with me."
