It's difficult for the mayor to pinpoint what exactly was making him feel perturbed and restless at the same time. The responsibilities he accrued when he took on this civil duty were tremendous, even for a vampire who was as old as he and as seasoned a businessman. Perhaps it was because he was constantly relying on other people to get the things done that needed to be done. Even though he was technically the leader, this wasn't a business. This was government. As a CEO and philanthropist, he could do so as he wished. As the mayor, however, he had to learn how to play politics to get what he wanted, and thus far, he wasn't enjoying the game so much. He watches the young vampire girl as she drinks delicately from the wine glass, the chilled yellow liquid moving delicately with the weight of gravity when she so gently brought it to her lips. Maybe it was cheeky or cliche for a vampire to have such an affection for red wine, of all things. But along with his jazz record collection, his wine cellar was among his most prized earthly possessions. He took great care in selecting and sampling wine, and indulged in quite the education of the process and the types and the tones over the years. Her answer to his question was simple and to the point, and Dareios could appreciate that. He pulled his thin lips tightly into a terse and short smirk and nodded his head in understanding. "I know what that's like." He said nonchalantly, his dark beady eyes focusing on the sweating glass sitting between his perched elbows on the bar top. When the vampire offers up her name, Dareios is almost too distracted to hear it. He takes a second to flash a glance at his watch, noting the time before allowing his mind to run through all the work that was waiting for him back in his chambers, and the long list of events and meetings he had scheduled first thing in the morning. He lets out a long and low huff, the strong stench of warm scotch rising through his exhale. "Oh. Dareios." He said somewhat awkwardly, taking her hand with his own gingerly for a proper shake. The vampire stiffened up in his seat and smiled at her once again. "It's nice to meet you, too." Dareios Auerbach | Vampire | Vinyl |
