While you were tearing a hole in me, I was taking control;

What was it with the mono-forms here? They all seemed to feel it necessary to interrupt her the moment she found a bit of peace and quiet and took a drink. Did they have some sort of sixth sense of her liquid intake that signaled them to come find her? On her initial visit to this establishment, it had been Archer that had busted in and asked for a favor and information from her. Asking questions about an artifact in public, where it could be overheard by anyone, that had endangered her and her guardsman and possibly put her kingdom at risk as well. The Unseelie spies were everywhere. But it wasn't the first time she had sent them back one of their own in a little box with a sarcastic note attached. Perhaps she would have to reconsider her choices of taverns in the area, this one seemed overly disruptive.
Now... here this woman was. Owner of said disruption and rebuking her for having brought her security team. The two broad-shouldered men took a few steps forward to stand, flanking the fairy queen. Eve only offered an exasperated sigh as she lifted her hand to wave them away. She hadn't wanted Ceara's apology nor her greeting. Eve merely wanted solitude. It was the reason she had tipped Andrew so well to keep this single table open as it was the only one situated in the raised alcove that had become her favorite table. Here, she could have her cake and eat it to. Solitude while still being able to watch the people below. It also offered security as the only way up or down, were the steps up front. Eve had instructed her captain to compensate the maître d' well and he had when he had slipped him a thousand in whatever bills it was that Sacro used.
Still, it wasn't likely that Ceara was going away quickly. Eve tilted her head towards the woman, resting startling blue eyes on her as Eve's lips curved in a twisted smile. "I have told z'em not to follow me but z'ey come anyvay. Good help iz z'o hard to find z'ese days, no?" Her voice was liquid smooth and laced with a thick exotic accent created by speaking an ancient dead language over English. Of course, there was a dry sarcasm too. Marin, the captain of her guard, merely nodded gravely; perhaps used to her sarcasm after guarding her for so many years.
Before she could exchange anymore "pleasantries", another joined them. It was his voice that had her eyes flickering from Ceara to his face and holding him in a long cold gaze. Andras. Eve had never cared for surprises and seeing Andras standing on the other side of the table counted as an exceedingly unpleasant one. How long had it been since the last time they had seen each other? It would have had to be before she and Marek had ascended to the throne, she thought with a touch of resentment. He still looked the same she realized, the same handsome and aloof fairy that had walked in to their kingdom centuries ago.... And then walked out.
"Alas, I know of no invisibility spell to make z'em less visible." Her brow arched as she gave him a Mona Lisa-esque smirk, all fire and rebellion. Eve knew what he meant but it still didn't stop the comment from escaping her crimson colored lips. She always did have a problem controlling her tongue. When he took the seat in front of her and purred her name the way he did, she snapped an order in an ancient fairy language with a commanding tone that had the four guards dispersing out of the tavern. Her eyes met Ceara's; her chin raised in a stubbornly defiant way that only a queen could manage when she made a decision that nothing could dissuade her from. "Z'ey are outside. I instructed z'em to be less threatening. Perhaps z'en z'ey will not frighten your skittish patrons. Marin stays, z'at iz not open for compromise."
The Queen of Thorns waited a beat to see what protest Ceara might offer before focusing her attention on the fairy in front of her. It was as if she had a steel rod in in her back now, Eve sat stiffly straight with her hands folded in her lap. Her demeanor had changed completely as if an invisible crown sat back upon her head once more, no longer just a woman seeking solitude anymore. "Hello Andras." There was no purr to his name, just a cold and unfeeling voice. He had brought with him memories of what had been before Marek's head had been mounted in HER castle's garden. Memories of a cage and of abuse that she had suffered at the hands of her in-laws. The very in-laws that her forced her through a horrifying ritual that took away everything that she was and left her broken on the dungeon floor. Memories she had not thought of since she had killed the very thing that had caused them. Marek. "It has been quite a while. Do tell, why are you here?"
(I'll add her HTML tomorrow. I'm too tired to do it tonight.)
