The time was ticking by far too quickly, she needed a break, a nap, she really just needed to go home. Miya could feel the exhaustion tugging at her bones, she wasn't entirely sure she could make it through the rest of her shift. Resting her head against the brick building, she allows herself a peaceful moment, her eyes fluttering close as she enjoys the breeze rustling the trees above her. Releasing a content sigh, a small smile tugs at the corner of her lips.
The sound of an ambulance pulling up has Mi jerking her head off the wall, watching as the paramedics throw open the door beckoning for a few extra hands. It wasn't really in her job description to offer assistance, she was typically in the surgery room helping where she was needed, yet she could see movements within those open the doors, the paramedics exiting the ambulance along with the gurney. Yet, she's surprised to see the paramedics step away, whispering quickly to one another, entirely forgetting about the patient on the trolley. Brows furrowing in confusion, she stands up, her lunch box entirely forgotten as she takes a few steps forward. What in the world were they doing?
Still, they are whispering urgently with one another, her chocolate eyes drawn to the movement on the cart until a man rolls off onto the ground. Before she knows it, Miyako is sprinting to the ambulance shouting at the paramedics. She beat them to the bloodied man on the ground, only to find his body practically torn to ribbons. It looked like an animal attack, an animal with very, very large claws. Quickly, she does a once over, finding the most serious wound and putting pressure there, careful to keep her hands only on the bandages until she was able to get gloves on. "He needs to get to surgery now!" She shouts at the neglectful paramedics, her eyes tearing away from the man to shoot a glare that would melt polar icecaps at the workers.
She's a bit smug as they hop to attention, helping her lift the man back onto the cart before they are running the cart through the doors and straight for the surgery room. Pausing only to shout out orders to available nurses and to get the surgeon, they are wheeling him into the room, a group of people trailing in, quickly dressing in their appropriate attire. Miya pauses only a moment, turning on her heel and stalking to the two paramedics, "You two should be ashamed of yourselves," she scolds them fiercely, her eyes on fire with anger, "Don't let it happen again," she snaps before returning to her own dressing.
Quickly changing, she's at the surgeon's right side, listening to him rattle off instructions, inspecting the man's wounds. Still, she can't help but feel a bit horrified as she takes in the shredded skin. "I watched him fall off the cart, he couldn't hold his weight up on his ankle, he might possibly have a broken ankle," she contributes, the surgeon nodding and moving to the man's legs, prodding the ankle. Giving his head a small shake, "Just some torn ligaments. I can't believe he's alive, he's lost a lot of blood. Hook him up!" the doctor makes a few comments before his order is ringing in their ears. Quickly, they have the man hooked up to different tubes, giving him a blood transfusion and keeping him hydrated.
Luckily, the man passed out sometime ago as they begin the long process of cleaning the wounds. Miya does the honors of stitching several of the more major wounds, the one on his groin being far worse than any other, and several others that littered his body. Luckily, most of the smaller wounds were able to be glued back together. Hours pass and when they finally wrap him in bandages, Miya offers to take him to his room. With the help of another nurse, they wheel the stranger to a nearby room, Miyako only pausing to dispose of her bloody clothes before she's back in her normal work attire.
The nurse that helps Miyako, gives the small Asian woman a nod of appreciation as they enter the room, quickly hooking him up. "It's way past your shift, you should go home," the nurse says kindly. Miyako simply shakes her head, taking a seat the seat on the left of the man. "I'll clock out but I'm going to stay until he wakes up," Miya announces, her shoulders slumping tiredly into that chair. Stifling a yawn, the nurse merely nods and takes her leave. Now that the threat of the stranger losing his life was over, she takes a bit of time studying him, though it hardly lasts long before her eyes flutter close and sleep claims her.
