The innocence of their union was all but snuffed out like a flickering and dying candle. Who were they fooling? He had his motives and she was an ever-changing creature, as fickle as her illusions. How much of this brief time they shared was truth and how much of it lies was impossible tell. "You took a panda on a bike?" No wonder why she hated it, pandas were not intended for fast moving objects, this much she was certain of. A once sided smirk draws upon her lips as she imagines such a strange thing.
It was when their masks came off when anticipation turned into something else. They let those masks drop to the floor as though they never existed and this was when their dance truly began.
He had pleaded his case, offering her a meal out of it. She was hungry, hell when did she not have an appetite? "Mmm. Tempting offer." There is a moment where she almost considers his offer and maybe she might, but she was having too much fun with this game they are playing. Why would she simply allow a formidable opponent slip through her fingers? It wasn't often when a challenge presented itself. So much for that simple night she desired. A night that was far too normal for this diverse darkened soul. Petra was far from normal. It was why she didn't accept his deal despite the fairness of it, at least that did not go unnoticed.
What was the pleasure in playing fair?
He asked her what she wanted and that was a rather loaded question. She wanted a lot of things, but right now she wanted this. She was testing him in various ways he may not have been aware of, that wanton curiosity reaching out its prying feelers. It didn't matter how much of his stories were fabricated, it was the way they danced within her illusions, that was how she garnered that valuable information she desired. It was all in those minute intricacies that exposed so much. She could see his desperation, his hunger overriding his judgement, despite how crafty he was. It was those little things that gave him away.
So what did she want? "I want to see how you work." She the strange woman laughed amused, that sound almost sounded sultry yet there is more to it. She is as complex as the webs he creates, far too many facets to consider. She allows him to obliterate those illusions of hers so easily, not to mention she is fascinated by how that electrical current can work. It also builds up that arrogance, making him think for that moment that he could win. That was until she would pull that proverbial footing from underneath him. This is how she plays. Petra enjoys this dance, just within reach and yet just out of touch.
It was then that that greedy ethereal mist swallows up the immediate vicinity, allowing it to roll in and extend and devour as much as her powers would allow. Within that mist, her creature is born, a deadly beast she pulls from the darkest depths of that intricate mind of hers. After all, an illusionist is only limited to their own mind. It was a good thing she was impressively creative. A bored creature with idle hands dwells deep within the labyrinth of her own mind. She spent most of her life a loner, her illusions becoming her as much as she created them. She created and she destroyed. She feasted and she tricked. She was like a god and yet she was a god of nothing but smoke and her precious illusions.
He is now perched on that tall building to try and find her, but she doesn't want him there. She doesn't like him outside of her own reach, so she counters it with her mist. From his peak the spider descends into her smoke like she had anticipated, she can feel him venture through that fog she could feel him through her very illusions that become her eyes and her fingertips. He was walking right for her in her direction admitting he could smell her, she had not taken that into account but she does not grow concerned. He may smell her but what if all those other senses had become bombarded by more pressing matters? How much pressure did he need until he was more focused on what she created rather than the tangibility of her?
He claims that her line was actually his. Did he not realise she could be a spider and the fly in a metaphorical sense? Was she now the predator or what she the prey? But she does not move, anticipating him, every step he took toward her as if welcoming it. If he could reach her now, she would allow him to feed. Yet it wouldn't be so simple. It never was with her. There was no such thing as normal with this eerie illusionist.
Her inky black creature moves like a bullet as though it tasted his scent on its forked tongue, it would trigger his trap undoubtedly. She didn't have to move an inch, her illusions do all the work while she is the conductor, allowing her scene to simply unfold before her like a carefully crafted nightmare. He had walked right into her trap, but he was surrounded by it, consumed by it. She could feel him as though she touched him with prying fingertips through the mist he dwells within. She could feel his doubt and confusion as he wades through that glowing murkiness. She might not see him, her illusions are real even to her but she feels him, everything her illusions touch. They are an extension of her. His voice pierces her, snaps her out of an intoxicating trance she was drowning in.
His nervous laughter reaches her after he asks if they could hurt him.
"Are you worried?" Her voice curls and weaves within her mist, slithering like the serpent she created. She smiles almost smugly to herself. "I am afraid as long as I will it. They are as real as me. Like I said, they are not mere illusions my little spider. I hope for your sake, you are fast." She offers him no comfort, her voice almost wistful and contemplative.
That was when the battle truly began, the snake lunged for him, fully intending to make purchase with those fangs that gleam off her glowing fog-like light off a guillotine blade. The scene was glorious and beautiful and for a moment she is proud of her own creation, amused by it. She fights that urge to walk towards it even as it calls to her. The ground shuddered when it lunges for him and misses, puncturing a gaping hole in the ground. She is fascinated by its destruction, revels in it as it slithers about. But she is equally as impressed at how her spider counters and escapes those gaping jaws. She clears the mist enough so she can glimpse through her haze and watch the epic battle unfold, unable to help herself. She could see her beast clearly in her mind, see as it does. Her eyes glow that unearthly colour as she is no longer present but one with her creation.
That gargantuan serpent that matched that glossy black of her hair slithered about, it had much as its own mind as much as it's linked to her. These illusions seem to take on a mind of their own like her subconscious masterfully pulls its strings, which frees up part of her mind to take care of other things. However, sometimes in these moments that her illusions need that extra ounce of concentration. So much that she hardly noticed that electric current that darted out like a grid along the ground. Haphazardly, she triggers it taking a step into the current, feeling a strange tingling sensation crawl up her leg like ants dancing upon her flesh. Fortunately for her, despite some pretty impressive efforts, he had his hands a little tied. If it weren't for that massive creature she controls, she may have been bested. The beast, so imposing and large crashes into a building, crumbling that concrete was to the ground. She cannot help but make an amused sound, impressed with herself. She is normally not so careless but what was she thinking creating something so large and out of control.
That snake lunges for the man again, this time she wants to grab hold of him but he shoots with his powers himself into the sky like a comet from the heavens he falls, she catches that glimpse of him with her own eyes. He lands trying to face that snake once more, he was brave, she would give him that. Perhaps he would learn something from of this, perhaps he could appreciate what she could do? After all, so many feared it.
He shoots his webbing at her serpent in attempts to bind its mouth closed and to try and blind it. Smart man. The other vampire tries to get away, he is desperate now, and he probably thinks she would allow it to devour him. He cannot land properly and is holding on to the edge of a building and he is suspended there like a worm on a line. Maybe she had pushed him too far? She frowns, did she actually feel bad? He wants to renegotiate their terms and she can't blame him for trying or wanting to. She doesn't answer his immediate question at least not yet, not until he is exactly where she wants him. She could hear that unease within his voice, that reality that dawned upon him as though desperation takes hold. She could taste this defeat, so close, so perfect. But perhaps there was a piece of her that didn't want to take it this far.
She uses her eyes to see for the beast, only able to see partially. It tries to knock him from his perch and just like that, binding lines reach for him. It was almost unfair. It tries to capture him so that the beast can coil around him, pinning his arms and subdue the man.
Just like that she parts that mist so she can walk through it untouched, it hugs around her form, opening a clearing as she slides with grace toward the spider and her massive snake creature. At last, she has him within her clutches unable to move. To him, he feels trapped, unable to move as its long body curls in upon itself. It can only partially peer at him through gaps within that webbing with the same coloured eyes of her own pale blue and green. The click of her heels on the concrete like a metronome.
She holds this proverbial knife at his throat, simply because she enjoys the feeling. Yet she doesn't want him dead, at least she doesn't think so, she peers at him as though watching him, analysing him without sparing a detail, at least from the shoulder up.
"Why would I renegotiate when I am winning?" A wicked smile curls upon her lips but careful eyes would see that she hesitates. "Would you?" her sing-song voice reaches out to him. She reaches out her pale cold hand to caress her snake that seems to purr before it lowers him just enough so she could peer into the other vampire's lovely eyes. She leans into him, so close he could almost reach out and bite her. "What would you have me do, my little spider?" Her voice is like a whisper. She is curious and daring as she could practically taste his own scent as it mingles with her own. She brings a thumb to her lips, piercing it with a fang so that blood wells up from that puncture. She then reaches out paints that blood on his lower lip, blinking at him almost innocently with a smirk upon her lips before she pulls her hand away.
