dance to the rhythm of your heartbeat

Memories from those simple childhood years come rushing back to Beylani as she prepares herself for yet another exciting adventure through the dark streets of Sacrosanct. A nostalgic smile dances across those blush-colored lips as she begins getting dressed into the costume that she had excitedly purchased from the small Halloween store a few streets away from Riverdale. Gosh, what had she been all those years as a little girl? The oldest memory she revisits is one particular Halloween when she'd chosen to go trick or treating as a princess like many of the other girls in her class. She recalls the party that the teachers held in each room, each with a different theme and sweet treats everywhere to be found. Oh, the simple bliss of being a child with so few worries in the world... In the Halloweens that had come and gone since that early memory of hers, Beylani could remember dressing up as a pirate, a witch, an Egyptian queen... The list went on and on as the young woman busied herself with getting ready for her first - hopefully - normal night on the town. Of all the years and all the silly little things she'd picked growing up, not once had she thought to be what she was tonight: a fairy.

Perhaps it was in light of... recent events that she had been drawn to this costume she'd seen hanging on the plastic model posed in the window. After all, it was all because of a tall, dark fae man that she knew such beings truly did exist like she'd once been so certain of as a little girl yet having grown up being told that magic and supernatural creatures were nothing but illusions crafted and created by storytellers of old to explain the things that back then had been considered unexplainable. So needless to say, having encountered Andras that night in Hyde Park had shaken the world she'd shaped around her, everything she'd once been so certain of practically crumbling all around her. Now, whenever she found herself walking through the crowded streets instead of braving traffic in her plain white four-door sedan, she couldn't help but cast a curious glance as that walking nearby. The first thing she found herself looking for were those pointed ears only to find none (so far). Surely he couldn't be the only one of his kind that roamed the confines of this concrete jungle? After all, the young woman had come across two other equally fascinating men that she'd found herself having thoroughly enjoyed being around. Dorian had been the first friendly face to welcome her into the big city life, but that easy smile and rich accent had been more than enough to tell her that he was not borne of this place. Plus he had also shared with her that in fact he was from Italy, one of the many faraway worlds she hoped to one day see with her own baby blues.

Then, there had been Killian. The Irishman she'd met at Inner Sanctum only a few days ago had been just as friendly as Dorian and the black and tan pup that had accompanied the pair on their walk through the ever beautiful and breathtaking Hyde Park that fall afternoon when the sunlight had ignited the vibrantly colored leaves like fire. Killian had had his own unique accent and had also spoken of being from another world far apart from Sacrosanct and so it was with the few people she'd met thus far in her new life in the big city she concluded that if people from all around the world found themselves here of all places to possibly end up, what were the odds that Andras was alone? Come to think of it, she hadn't considered inspecting either Dorian or Killian for those pointed ears then. Perhaps next time she saw them, she would try and see if they were fae or not? In reality though, just what were the odds that they were? She didn't know nor was she even able to begin guessing at those odds, still attempting to fully wrap her mind around this brand new concept that magic was very much real after all.

She'd hoped that somehow she would run into that fae man that she was so very fascinated by - if anything secretly finding him to he rather attractive despite the nature of their first meeting -, considering him to be a friend than simply an acquaintance after that eventful evening they'd spent in the walls of her small apartment, having wanted to see if he might join her (or entertain her anyway) in the midst of the holiday for silly costumes and sugar overdose. There never seemed to be a dull moment when she was with him... Ah, but surely he would not have been interested in such human celebrations that Beylani decided to indulge herself in tonight, plus he was likely busy tending to his own life matters to spend to gite following her around. She is unable to stifle the girlish laughter that bubbles from her in amusement as she looks at herself in the mirror now. Fitted in a small strapless dress fashioned to look like leaves, a pair f plastic fairy wings sprouting up from behind her, blonde locks styled in her usual elegant yet loose curls draping themselves over her slender shoulders, she tries to imagine exactly what the fae man would think of her dressed as the fabled Tinkerbelle of her childhood. She could almost heat that thick, smooth-as-satin chuckle of his now and she had little doubt that he would think her ridiculous for dressing up at all, let alone choosing the be a fairy of all things when the very character she was dressed as couldn't be farther from what a true fae was like. This was all in good fun anyway so there was little need to be politically correct.

Walking out of her bedroom and towards the coffee table where her keys sit beside a small change purse she had stowed away a little cash for refreshments that might be available, she also collects her phone and slips on the white sandles that she thought accented the outfit decently enough. Baby blues look to find her tortoiseshell companion she now viewed in a different light sitting there contentedly in the window sill as always."Have a good Halloween, Chika. Maybe next year I can dress as a witch and you can come with me", she says with amusement lacing every syllable as she dared to imagine trying to drag her feline friend out into the depths of Sacrosanct with her. She moves to the front door and stepping outside - thankful that the evening air was not as cold as it had been last night - she closes and locks the door behind her and descends down the lit stairwell. When she reaches the sidewalk, she begins her journey to the north side of the city and to a place called "The Witchery" where the flyer she'd seen had mentioned as one of the few locations holding a Halloween party. It wasn't like Beylani to attend such things, but she wanted to partake in as much of the events throughout the city as she could. There was a party or two at a few of the bars throughout Sacrosanct, but she still had a few weeks to go before she'd be of age to walk into any of those establishments. She hums quietly to herself as she walks through the streets, happy to see that she was not the only one out tonight as she watched families escorting their children to shopping centers and nearby neighborhoods to collect candy from any who might be handing those sweet treats out. It was nothing like that night she'd looked for Andras after discovering the gift he'd left for her, the air seeming charged with childrens' laughter and overall energy compared to the eerie stillness that had caused her skin to nearly crawl then.

Unsure of just how much time had passed, she finds herself taken aback when suddenly the streets seem to grow even more crowded and the buildings change into elegant and sculpted structures, announcing her arrival into the wealthier part of the city. She hadn't expected tonight to be so alive, but she wasn't the only human in Sacrosanct that eagerly took part in this holiday. Well, at least she fit it somewhat well... although it was easy to see in the surprise that flickered across her baby blue gaze scanning the many stores and restaurants for some sort of sign that she was close to "The Witchery". She knew it was a hotel of some sort, but none of the taller buildings seemed to be boasting any type of advertisement and while perhaps he had hoped she would have been able to spot it by finding the largest crowd of people, it was proving to be a bit more difficult not a task than she has originally thought it would be. So there she is, a small town girl dressed in a Tinkerbelle costume standing at a street corner beneath an extravagant and almost English style lamp post lost in a sea of people. It's gotta be around here somewhere...
