As I step out the door, she leans with such confidence against the wall that it's anyone's guess that only moments before she was cringing in the shadows of a booth inside. As she pulls away when she sees me coming, the grin across her lips is so full of life and carefree that I find myself returning it with vigor. As she falls in step with me, her steps are light and bouncy and she answers me teasingly. As we start walking, she suddenly says something in another language and I raise a brow in question, tilting my head to her before she turns back to offer me a bow in a most graceful manner. Her offered words only bring a scowl of puzzlement to my lips as I shake my head. "Well I certainly didn't mind. And they say a man always waits on a woman. They even wrote a song or two about it." I offer her a playful smirk now, wanting to lighten the mood. She grows thoughtful at her own words, her face even falling into a less light atmosphere as if thinking of harsher memories and my own brow furrows in concern but before I can say anything, she moves away, her voice trailing off as she changes the subject and I decide to let it drop, not wanting to cause her any distress. As she finishes her sentence, my brows rise in surprise, head tilting as I smirk. "Oh really? Well then, by all means, lead the way, love guru. I'm open to suggestions." My features soften, willing to oblige her as much as she would like. |
