He seems thoughtful for some time before saying that he does get cold but then he finds it fit to give me a lecture on how his kind isn't meant for the cold because of his species. I can't help but roll my eyes. It was a vague question. I don't care if he's the freaking sphinx of Egypt, I just wanted to know if he gets cold. I cringe when he mentions the coats and outfits that some smaller dogs wear. Yes, I have seen the hideous things. I would never let someone put something like that on me. It's like humans wants dogs to think themselves inferior, just possessions, nothing more. It's almost as bad as the collars. I nod with a scowl. "They're disgusting. But humans do that to animals. How can you see stuff like that and not do something about it? Don't you want to just kill everyone that ever looked down on your kind? What do you do when you see a hunter? The kind that put panther heads on their walls like a prize?" I just can't help myself. If I think it, I say it. It's a serious questions, after all. At his question, I shrug. "I know I feel SOMETHING when the moon is full. I feel stronger, more feral. I usually go hunting solo on those nights because I don't trust myself around the pack. I'm prone to mood swings and well...it's not good to be around others when that happens." He seems genuinely curious so why not answer, right? His sudden demand makes my ears flick back. "Take you with me where exactly? It's not like I could take you to my pack. They wouldn't know what to do with a panther. They'd either attack or run." My brows furrow at him quizzically. Suddenly I straighten up. "I know where I can take you though, if you still want to go." I swish my tail, waiting for his reply before I turn and take off into the woods, down a well memorized path not known to the naked eye. I know I don't have to take it slow because his long legs are well and able to keep up. This way I can stretch out and really run, caught up in the wild blood running through my veins. My ears flick back so the wind doesn't tickle and I let my nose and eyes do all the work. I almost forget that he's with me. I love to run. It's not long however before I stop at the edge of a cliff that seems to rise up ahead of us out of nowhere. Trees hide it from view until you're right up there on the edge and only because I know it's there do I put on the brakes at the right moment and hope that he catches on as well. Then I step through the branches slowly until I'm looking down right next to a roaring waterfall. I've seen prey animals like deer fall to their deaths here because they're so distrcted by the roaring water and whatever spooked them in the first place to pay attention to the sixth sense telling them to stop. My ears move forward now, just staring down at the white fog rising up from the bottom of the waterfall. It's always been so fascinating to me. A wind picks up like it always does right here, almost tempting you to jump in with the water. It ruffles my fur as I turn to him. "Well? What do you think? Ready to jump?" |
