I can tell that the bartender does have some sense of manners, the way he keeps his gaze downcast when in her presence. Either he has a certain level of respect for her and what she is or she's more than just an older vamp in this bar. She seems a little less displeased with him after this but it's easy to tell her feelings won't just turn to forgiveness. She has a personal quarrel with him and that's not going to change anytime soon. I bet his life will be over before the week is up. She studies me as I drink, taking my time to savor it because I've got all the time in the world as she would understand. I know enough not to cause trouble for her. How would that benefit me? It wouldn't. I always think things out, predicting moves and how they'll fall into play. If I see no value in the outcome then I let it be. When I offer my hand, she looks at it with a simper on her lips and I know already that she's not going to return the gesture. She's an untrusting girl as is her preference and that's okay. To each their own. I throw myself out there because I don't mind the risk and yes, it might get me my true death one of these days but until then, I like living recklessly. It keeps life interesting. She would know that I mean no harm in the handshake, only wishing to show her that I bring only good will to her and this bar but I take no offense when she doesn't extend her own hand. After a moment more, I smile to show I'm not offended as I pull my own hand back. I can understand that she doesn't know me and she doesn't trust me. When I offer my name though, she's quicker to give her own. She adds on something I'd already had a theory on and I nod my head in acknowledgement as I look around. "And a nice bar it is, Ceara. Very upper-class. Is this what you always wanted to do? Run your own bar?" I mean no insult in my questions, merely curious, is all. When someone is human, it's easier to understand that running and owning your own establishment would be the epitome of someone's dream. But as a vampire, I thought the world a place of endless possibilities. I did not want to stop at having money and power. I wanted it all, and in some ways, I still do. Is she satisfied with owning a bar? Is this as far as she plans to go or is there a bigger plan under it all? She doesn't have to tell me of course if there is one. I'm merely curious to know if she's okay with the lot she's got for now. She seems distracted at one point, looking over my shoulder and the displeasure is evident on her features. She excuses herself and I turn on my chair to watch her as she approaches the teenagers dancing on the floor. They stop what they were doing to watch her, obviously curious and maybe a little skeptical that she can do anything about it since they outnumber her five to one but I have a feeling she's got more power over them than they're bargaining for. She looks at them with a hard stare and a grin on her lush lips that speaks of wicked thoughts. She speaks one sentence to them, telling them to have a good night but I can tell by the look on their faces that there's more at work than just words. I can almost see the wheels in their mind being slowed and puppeteered from another source. I tilt my head in intrigue. Can she bend wills as well? They blink a few times before heading on their way with no arguement in sight and my blue eyes gleam as I watch them leave. She looks over the rest of the bar, seemingly satisfied with what the night has given her now. She returns to the bar, sliding back into the seat next to me as if nothing happened. She continues on her speech, telling me she's been here fifty years before she pauses, her intelligent eyes looking me up and down before asking what brings me here. I let my lips crinkle into a crooked smirk. "I have no real purpose in coming here, actually. I travel a lot, rarely settling down anywhere for too long. I like to experience the world and the places in it. I reached this town and saw more supernatural things going on than I'd seen anywhere else. It's like a melting pot of different species. Intrigued, I decided to stay for a while and see how things pan out. I don't know how long I'll stay I guess as long as it keeps my interest." I shrug lightly before looking around the bar. "So..fifty years, eh? Long enough to build a reputation and get to know your peers. Have you met many others of our kind here? Anyone of particular interest?" I am interested in the other vampires living in Sacrosanct. Maybe I do yearn for some companionship and nothing scratches the itch better than anther vampire. |
