Arlo James
See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch
Why did this always happen? Why did they always find him? How did they always find him? For several moments longer Arlo continues to cling to that tree branch, keeping his hooded form concealed within that foliage, the bright blue of his gaze turned downward to eye the young blonde woman beneath him. Whether she would stay silent remained to be seen, that grin pulling a his lips if only to better convince the girl he was hardly a threat, the vampire hardly capable of preventing that flash of his fangs as he did. The shouts of his pursuer see that boyish grin falter, his eyes watching that other vampire intently once more, Arlo already seeking an escape route. After all, wasn't this what he did, time and time again? He ran. Running was his survival method and for one more night, it seemed, he was determined to employ it once more. That sudden, distinct, crunch draws his gaze downward yet again, eyes lifting upward in surprise as the blonde woman delicately slips those leaves into her mouth- chewing them as if they tasted as entirely as pleasant as her salad. Had she not even noticed them? His intrigue in the woman's eating habits however last only so long as it takes a child to suddenly cry out, followed by another and another. Why on earth where they all crying?
His gaze readily returns to the other vampire all the same, his own lip curling in slight disdain at the sight of him and yet in the wake of those suddenly panicking parents his assailant seemed equally confused, the vampire stumbling slightly, near tripping over a chair while trying to weave his way through the people all the same. Whatever was going on hardly mattered, he supposed, Arlo nothing if not an opportunist in every sense of the word and this was an opportunity he was hardly willing to forgo. Those whispered words of the blonde woman below are readily heard, captured by that ever-impressive vampire hearing and yet he offers her little more than a soft nod of acknowledgement before launching himself from the tree and back onto the roof. He sprints easily across those tiles, vaulting down and into the crowd on the other side, leaving his pursuer to continue to stumble around that courtyard before surely giving up in frustration some minutes later. It is only when Arlo is sure he is gone that the vampire doubles back, gaze readily searching for that pretty blonde girl who had taken it upon herself to provide a distraction. She could hardly be far after all, right?
It takes several moments of searching that crowd before he spies her slender figure striding ahead, Arlo following now from a distance, curiosity seeming to have ensnared him for tonight in the least. Why she had gone out of her way to help him was intriguing, just as much as why she had eaten the leaves that had fallen from the tree he had hidden in. She turns off that main road, heading down a quieter street, the woman hardly seeming rushed or afraid of being alone. Arlo cuts easily through the back alleyways, his hooded form stepping abruptly out in front of the girl now, several strides between them still, the ardent blue of his gaze meeting her own as his head shakes, allowing that hood to drop and expose that tousled near-black hair and strikingly youthful features. The man attempting to prevent himself looking fearsome in any sense, a toothy grin offered once more. Vampire or not he was polite- when he wanted to be- one arm leaning against the brick wall of the nearest building, the man appearing near entirely human for all intents and purposes.
"Did you do something to those people?"
One eye lifts ever so slightly and yet a grin exists within those words all the same, the man clearly taking some amusement from whatever sort of power it was he had witnessed, one hand brushing back that tangle of dark hair only to have it fall back again, tickling at his eye lashes. His own gaze peers up that dark street once more, assuring they were alone still, Arlo ever aware of the world around him. A vulture had to be, after all. His attention returned to the woman only once he was sure they were still alone.
"You didn't have to help me, why did you? Never had a girl eat leaves for me before."
