The Sun Also Rises
There was a pleasantness to Dareios. Something companionable that Dorian quite found he enjoyed. Perhaps it was merely the age of the man and Dorian's natural affinity to gravitate towards those whom understood the world in the way he once had, else perhaps it was merely the natural charisma of the vampire himself. Either way the Fae King so found himself content in the mans company and that air of equal calm he so seemed to exude in that otherwise bustling metropolis. How quickly he had tired of being busy and rushed! The man so relishing that privacy and anonymity that had been returned to them upon retiring back to this city and unknown to the world at large. How valuable too- those equally calm people could be. Dorian so inclined to like the man if only for his softly uttered comment upon Naples itself, the Fae taking some measure of pride in his kingdom though he offered little more than that polite nod, voicing instead his intrigue in those antiques the man mentioned. The card that is presented to him but a moment later sees the man reach forward to take it, turning it about within his hands to view that address, assured Sebastian would know where it was. Perhaps his companion might even care to come, his head nodded once more.
"I will, Monday perhaps, if you're not busy."
Antiques, after all, had always been of interest to him. Many of them decidedly modern to his thinking and yet still there was a delight to be found in so seeing those things he had missed throughout the ages. Several of his rooms in Naples too, required complete refurbishment, Dareios might yet prove to hold just the pieces to adorn such rooms. Dorian finding himself decidedly intrigued at the thought before he so sought to inquire after those ever tedious public occasions that he is sure someone so significant as a Mayor must be forced to attend. The ready smirk he is presented with, the look of one whom understood entirely, sees his own lip quirk upward before Dareios asked just what had brought him to this city. Such a question caught him monetarily off guard and yet too- those distinctly accented words of his newfound companion were hardly lost upon him. What a curious tone. Certainly not English, no, it was something else entirely. His mind was want to consider it all the same as he sought to answer that question in the same easy tones, his shoulders lifting into something of a shrug.
"I came to this city quite by accident I fear, yet I found reason to stay indefinitely. I am living here for now in the least, though I shall surely return to Italy later in the year, even if only for a short while- for work. I like your city though, it confuses me and intrigues me all at once. I enjoy it."
He smiles easily then, his thoughts so inclined to linger upon his lover once more. The very reason he had to stay here, along with Samantha and that which the woman was working to build with his assistance. Dorian assured his home would be wherever Sebastian chose to exist even if they need fly back to Naples but a handful of times a year to continue to assure the success of his reign. Compromise, Sebastian called it. Dorian still learning this subtle art. He gestures easily then towards the door, more than willing to show Dareios that restaurant that might prove more pleasing to him then that coffee he seemed to dislike drinking, the Fae halting abruptly as the vampire lifted a finger. That apology for his security team is met with a simple wave of Dorians hand. His own people were, after all, scattered throughout and sure to follow in turn. Dorian having gone to great lengths to assure they remained inconspicuous and yet this method of texting Dareios seemed to have mastered was one of great convenience.
"Forgive me, Dareios, but where are you from? I do not recognise this accent."
He steps easily through those doors then and out onto the street, finding himself wholly intrigued by just where the vampire had come from, his knowledge of so much of the world so terribly limited and as such he had so failed to identify that Irish lilt that clung to the other man's words. It was a short walk to that restaurant, the Monarch oblivious to Dareios' close observation of him in that moment as he fiddled absentmindedly with the ring about his finger, thoughts drifting elsewhere for but a few strides before they arrived at that very establishment that was already beginning to thrive. The vampires determination that he could surely wait just as everyone else was met with a look of intrigue, Dorian finding himself all the more curious of this wholly humble individual whom had clearly been recognised by several beings within that crowd and yet remained determined to stand amongst them all the same. How curious Dareios was. It is that query, as they wait, that sees the silver of his gaze meet the man's own once more.
"My boyfriend is a vampire. We have been here a few times."
There is a certain care to so offering those words. Dorian having learned readily that some were not near so accepting of any such relationship between two men, this but one of the few times the Fae had ever offered that information, a certain part of the man braced for some outward disdain he hoped would not come. That line is quick to move, the pair so finding themselves at the front but a few minutes later, that waiter directing them to one of the quiet tables within. The lights dimmed to be off comfort to those of a more vampiric nature before they were handed two very different sets of menus. One of more classical food for himself, an entirely blood-themed menu for Dareios. His lips parted then, his words ended well before he could offer them, a young vampire girl having appeared at their table, her eyes firmly upon Dareios. Im so sorry to interrupt but could I please have your autograph? Her hands extended then, offering a piece of paper to Dareios with clear hopefulness, Dorian finding himself almost amused at the gesture, curious to as to Dareios' reaction, waiting for the young woman to leave before he spoke once more, that simper upon his lips again.
"They seem to like you. Tell me, does that menu appeal to you more so than that coffee from before?"
