South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

So much had happened in her short life that it was almost too much for Emmy to manage most days. But somehow, she still managed to rise with the sun and make it through the day unharmed. She was still new to this city, still getting used to the pace of those living within it. She was used to a quiet suburban town and this place had a much bigger feel to it...much like New York or Chicago. Everyone was in constant motion and sometimes, Emmy just felt a little overwhelmed.

Like on this particular day, Emmy needed to just chill out for a short while. She felt as though her life was traveling ninety miles a minute and there was no slowing down. At least here in the park, she was able to get away from the hustle and bustle if only for a few brief moments. She began her walk at the entrance of the park, taking her time in walking along each trail. Some took her around the more popular gathering places but others took her more on an off-roading type feel.

This particular trail she was on seemed to be less crowded and took her into the foresty area. She walked quietly along the trail lost in thought before a little pink tennis ball took off alongside her. It took her by surprise and she gasped lightly. It was followed quickly by a flurry of fur as the little puppy whizzed past her, nearly tripping her as she walked rather absentmindedly. The puppy then whizzed past again and this time, Emmy stopped to look for the owner.

Turning her head, eyes rested on a young man who was walking just behind her on the trail. He was the only one around, so the puppy had to no doubt belong to him. She offered him a smile. "You have a cute dog." She was trying her best to be friendly. Socializing was always hard for her, but at least she was trying.
