The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

The Ascension Center of Equitation is the epicenter of the Dark Hunter Cavalry Unit. Originally a high-class facility for show-jumping, Ascension now caters entirely to the Cavalry Unit. Here the Dark Hunters learn how to ride and fight upon the backs of horses - many of which are Were's themselves.

Hyde Place takes up a large part of the Southern side of the city and includes a large playground, several fountains, and a small garden. The park is open from five in the morning till midnight though many shady characters may visit this place while it's technically "closed". The park has also been a venue for several concerts and hosts many holiday-related events. Under a full moon, witches are often seen here for the sacred ground beneath the iconic Weeping Beech.
The Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium (PDZA) is an award-winning combined zoo and aquarium located within the Southern Part of Sacrosanct. Situated on 92 acres in Sacrosanct's Hyde Park, the zoo and aquarium are home to over 9,000 specimens representing 367 animal species. Point Defiance is also widely known for its conversation efforts regarding the breed and release program of Red Wolves.
Beyond the city limits and over the bridge lies the deep, dark, and almost impenetrable forest. Often seen as a way to guard this magical city against the world that surrounds it, many are entirely ignorant of the evil that may creep between those tree trunks. Many were-creatures use the forest for the transformations of their newest members and some even take to hunting here. It isn't particularly peculiar for people to go missing within this forest but once you get through, the rest of the world awaits.

She was such a happy little girl, he couldn't bring himself to think anything bad of Anna. She was sweet and innocent and apparently liked sharp teeth. What was wrong with that? What little girl didn't have infatuations with vampires? Not with the likes of Twilight out, for Christ's sake. When she showed off her pointy whites, he stumbled back and immediately chided himself for being a stupid coward. Of course they were fake. She only seemed amused but who wouldn't be at a grown ass man stumbling back like she had rabies or something? She giggled and he reminded himself again that she was just a little girl. She was innocent. She told him that they weren't fake and he gave her an indulging smile. "Of course not. I just meant, well, you can't very well eat with them in. That probably wouldn't be healthy to swallow them by accident." He was fishing, he knew. Trying to get some clue from her that they were in fact fake teeth. Of course she would consider them real because to her, they were. In her child's mind, she was a vampire. But if he didn't get a clue that this wasn't in fact the case soon, he would probably lose his mind. Then she asked if he'd ever seen a vampire before and he smirked. "Of course, in the movies and stuff. Never in a solitary park at night. I'd say this is a first." He was still humoring her but he was trying to put on a good serious face so he would look surprised for her benefit. She stepped closer to him, her eyes expectant like she was waiting for something, something from him. But he didn't know what. Her gaze was so serious, almost predatory. She must practice this game of vampire and prey a lot. She was completely in the zone and he was feeling more and more like a prey animal the longer he looked into those eyes. He had to inwardly shake himself out of it, offering her a more sheepish smirk as she told him that there were other things she could do. He raised a brow. "Oh yeah, I sure do." He noted that she was looking somewhere over his shoulders and he dutifully turned and followed her gaze. "What am I looking for? So I'll know when I see it." He was still assuring himself he was playing her childhood game of imagination. Maybe she would say he would see a puppy dog running up to him or something then he could play along and say that yes, he did in fact see the dog then he could mime out all the actions of petting the dog and getting licked in the face and stuff. Childhood stuff. Nothing like the shadows that started to move along the sidewalk like smoke toward them. His eyes widened and he moved back again, reaching out to know where Anna was so he could be assured she was behind him. Despite something in the back of his mind telling him she had to be the one doing this, he was still ever the savior, wanting to protect her from whatever the hell this was. He continued to watch the shadows as they started to swarm together, making a grotesque shape that resembled something not human but not creature either. He blinked repeatedly, somehow sure that this had to be a trick of the eyes, but it was still there, swirling and he swore it was STARING at him. He had to look up at it, swallowing as he tried to figure out where he would even be able to look this thing in the eye. He was sure somehow that punching this thing wouldn't do a thing so instead he turned and crouched, looking at Anna. "Are you doing this? Do you have....powers?" It sounded stupid on his tongue but he had to believe something. He turned his head and sure enough, it was still there. He exhaled, turning back to Anna. "Um, it's really cool. Scary, but cool. Hey look, if you don't want to go back home right now, that's fine. I won't push for it." He knew it was getting too close to pleading and he hated himself for it. He was pleading for mercy from a little girl that could potentially be a real vampire. How fucked up is this? He steeled himself and looked at her again, his face soft. "Okay, if you're a real vampire, then I got it. I know the rules. You want blood, right? To kill. Well, it wouldn't be the most hardcore way to go out but it's better than just being hit by a car or getting shot, right? My dad will probably just laugh." He murmured the last part more to himself than anything. "So...do I need to lie down or something? Or you rather gargantuan shadow monster here hold me while you do it?" This was it. He was steeling himself to die. He was a failure in life, so why not be a failure in death, too? What was the point in fighting? He knew he couldn't do anything to physically harm the shadow thing and he couldn't bring himself to hurt a little girl, even a vampire. The image of Adelaide crossed his mind. Guess he had lied, after all. He wouldn't be there tomorrow morning to work in the yard again. Townsend would know he was right all along and that Taylor was bad news, not good enough for Adelaide. But maybe, just maybe, Adelaide would look for clues and find the newspaper article. That is, if there is an article to find. Maybe Anna would just hide his body afterwards and he would be a forgotten person, missing but not missed. He only thought of her as he stared at Anna as evenly as he could. He would be lying if he said he wasn't scared out of his mind right now, but he wouldn't spend the last moment of his life running from something he couldn't escape. If he couldn't fight it, he would accept it. That's just how he was. |
