South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

Anna-Marie couldn't tell exactly what it was several days ago, something in the way her body no longer coiled at the sight of the sun specks streaming in from the gap in the drapes. It was an interesting feeling to say the least and one that for some reason the petite vampire decided to investigate. Inch by inch she drew closer to that bright ray of light, those small fingers tentatively raising until the very tips of those pale digits grazed that column of light. The pain which would be expected of a vampire never came and with sapphire eyes raised in bewilderment, Anna further plunged her hands, arm, and all the way up until that baseball sized light of warmth landed on her face.

Since that morning Anna had taken to wandering the world during the day. It had been quite an adjustment to her internal clock which had become accustomed to sleeping during the day. Her mood swings were quite aggressive at first, like a toddler without a nap, much quicker to lash out than usual which was saying something considering the improvement to her behavior she had made lately.

Today was the first day she was beginning to feel normal and breached that sunlight to feel its warmth on her skin even if it couldn't warm her completely. Anna could smell the impending rain on the horizon despite the brilliant sun fighting on for as long as it could. Hunger and boredom drew the young french girl to her familiar stomping grounds of the park. The foot traffic was lighter here and joggers easier to snatch off the trails without any witnesses. Her path towards the jogging trails brought her to the playground first. Perhaps she could play a bit before feeding. Slowly, Anna stepped off that curb into the sand and made her way to the swing set. Her gaze swept the area, noting each and every child and the adult with them. There seemed to be an odd one out. One vibrant blonde careening about the playground didn't seem to have an accompanying adult. Was she simply guessing wrong? Her attuned observation assured her that none of the adult's gaze wandered from their own designated charge.

Those blue eyes continued to watch the unknown child run about in glee, leaping onto those monkey bars only to fumble and tumble to the ground beneath. It didn't take much of a breeze for that coppery smell to waft into the child vampire's sense causing those pupils to dilate in reminder of her hunger. After taking one final glance towards the others, Anna left her swing to approach the downed child only to pause a yard's distance from her. She paused a moment, considering her words as she teetered on the edge of control coming closer to that source of smell. "You have to put sand on your hands first." Obviously falling from the monkey bars was something she knew how to avoid and seemed willing to share her knowledge.
