As he placed the surfboard in the sand, he mentioned that they could use this time to not only eat some lunch, but also reapply sunscreen so she wouldn't burn her skin. Her question about what it means to burn had him looking up at her curiously. Had she never been burned by the sun before? Surely she would have experience with this during the summer as a human. "Yes, burn. The sun can make your skin red and hot and it becomes very painful. If it's not treated, it can form blisters and even kill your skin. We use something called sunscreen to help prevent that from happening." He had seen some severe sunburns from people who thought they could go out sunbathing and take a nap. There was nothing more horrific than seeing second or third degree burns from the sun.
He handed her a towel and grabbed one himself, wrapping it around his shoulders as he reached into the cooler to grab some sandwiches, chips, and bottles of water. He handed her one of each as she mention that she was starving. "I find that surfing works up my appetite." He always brought food with him when he went out on the waves. When he finally came to shore, he was almost always hungry.
Sitting in one of the beach chairs, he bit into his sandwiched and chewed that bite before he looked over at her. "Tell me about your pack." He didn't have a pack to call his own and sometimes, he missed that sense of family. He felt very much alone here in Sacrosanct and he hoped to one day find the perfect place for him. Until then, he would simply live vicariously through those that did have a pack home.
