Kit couldn't help it he wasn't good at hiding things. Even before his captivity, he always wore his heart on his sleeve and you could always tell what he was thinking through his facial expression. Troy used to tease him, telling him he'd never get a girl if he didn't learn how to be mysterious. Of course, Kit never planned on being the guy in love because he didn't want to drag someone into his lifestyle. He never planned on getting attached. He didn't want it to happen with Sam, but like everything with her, the feelings came so easily. Now to find out he was going to be a dad...it just all fell into place and he wasn't even worried about it. You would think after all those years preaching about no attachments, he would be coming apart at the seams right now but miraculously enough, Kit only felt....euphoria. It was like a eureka moment and yeah, there were moments of concern like, would he be a good dad? But he tried to shrug all that aside for now because he had 9 months to worry about that, right? For now, all he had to worry about was Sam and making her happy. Making sure both her and baby were healthy and happy. He could do that, right? He told himself he could, because Sam's happiness already meant so much to him. Nobody had to force him to do that. In a way, he was sort of relieved that he had a reason to spend more time with her now. He liked that she told him she hadn't been with anyone else. The idea of someone else touching her the way he did...Kit felt anger like he hadn't felt in a long time at just the thought. He wanted to tell her he hadn't been with anyone else either, not because he had to but he wanted her to feel that same relief, or at least he'd like to hope she felt that. When she said she felt the baby, Kit had to admit he was shocked. How could she feel the baby already? But then she explained. She had powers of perception and could feel the baby's emotions. He was both surprised and happy to know she could tell things about the baby. Maybe it would give them an advantage as parents, or at least her as the mother. She told him that's how she knew she was pregnant before she took the test. He could tell she was nervous about it and he found himself drawing circles on the back of her hand again with his thumb, trying to comfort her. His gaze was patient and soft as he watched her and listened with everything he had in him. She even admitted that she could feel things better about a person when she was close to them and how she could read him as easily as breathing. His eyes widened a bit in surprise when she said it. He hadn't even thought about her being able to read him when she confessed her power. He was too distracted by thoughts of the baby. Was he worried that she could read his thoughts? He thought he might feel violated...but he didn't. She admitted it was mostly emotions but still, he didn't feel concerned. He smiled a little and tilted his head. "Oh yeah? So are you satisfied that I'm not going to run? I didn't need a power to know you were worried about that." He offered softly. He could probably ask about her other powers but really, he was okay to leave her to her secrets. They barely knew each other as she pointed out and he wanted to change that but they had plenty of time. They had a child's lifetime and fae could live forever. When she spoke of her creation, he was more upset about that than anything. To know that someone had killed her and turned her...it made him angry. She confirmed that she was murdered and she didn't seem so upset by it now but he still was. He could feel it rising within him. Then she added a tease that effectively distracted him, calling him old and saying she was a baby compared to him. He unexpectedly gave a chuckle, the light reaching his eyes. "Yeah, I guess you are." He admitted. She admitted that she spent some time with the girls who changed her and he scowled a little in thought. He didn't think it would be women that changed her. For some reason, he automatically assumed it was a man or men that did it. He was wrong. When she mentioned a fae that took her flying, he stiffened in his chair, his brows furrowed in thought. Fae could be born with wings, or even grow them in later on in life but he didn't know a whole lot of winged fae. Could she know more? He tilted his head thoughtfully, wondering how to bring it up. "Was it around here, the winged fae?" She said it was a he so his thoughts shifted to Troy unbidden. He didn't really want to talk about his charming brother to a beautiful girl like Sam who was carrying his child but he couldn't very well ignore the possible connection. He told her what he knew about fae carrying children and he was glad to know she wasn't completely in the dark about it. She admitted that she knew it was hard but when he mentioned about the powers of the baby, she asked about her own powers being stronger. He smiled and nodded, glad he could shed some light for her. "Yeah, that's probably because of the baby." When she spoke of her feelings, he felt his breath catch. Then she leaned in and admitted that she really liked him and he felt like he was floating, wings or no wings. She started hesitating with her words, saying she didn't want the child to be the only reason for them and he smiled wider, glad he wasn't the only one thinking along those lines. He let out a breath of relief before speaking as he leaned in a little more too. "I feel the same way, Sam. I couldn't stop thinking about you even before we met in California. I've never felt this way, never so strong, especially with someone I barely know. Something about you draws me in and the fact that we're having a child together won't change that." The words were easy to say, somehow. Like he was just saying his thoughts out loud. Troy always called him corny when he got like that. Hopefully she wouldn't think the same. |
