calamity
The life I live is one big calamity
The woods were nothing short of utterly inviting to those animal halves, it was partially why the Were-King had chosen this place as a more permanent home for his childhood companion. It had, however, certainly crossed his mind to bring the entirety of the pack here as a reunion of sorts. It would be months, after all, before they had a place to call home and the cabin might provide a means for the pack to persist before those bonds stretched too thin to be repaired. It was something to consider, even if he chose to give them all time to settle into that new lifestyle, for now. His head bobbed ever so slightly in vague agreement with the young woman that they'd surely enjoy the forest though he hardly offered any audible words in response, the Alpha hardly seeing a need to. Rather, he allowed her to finish nibbling her sandwich, only for Raven to inquire after how Mira was. He supposed, realistically, he should hardly be surprised by Raven's question of the girl, even if he had diligently strived to keep his affections for her behind closed doors. His efforts, it seemed, had fallen distinctly flat, much to his displeasure. Nevertheless, the emerald of his irises turned towards the forest beyond the glass windows of the cabin as he brushed off that inquiry with remarkable ease, insisting that not only was she fine but so too was the rest of the pack at large.
What he didn't anticipate, however, was that question of how he was. The query brought the weight of those emerald eyes back towards her, his brows furrowing ever so slightly. How...was he? What a loaded question that was, and how he suspected she knew it, at least to a lesser degree. For a moment, those eyes regarded her with an almost cool apathy before his shoulder lifted in a vague shrug. "I'm fine." He responded simply, his vibrant colored gaze turning away from her all over again. The conversation, thankfully, shifted away from that query of how he was and instead towards their new home and his vague plans for the future. He could hear the palpable anticipation within her voice as she inquired after their new residence and yet, Tetradore had truly little to offer on this topic either. "There's not much to tell. They just started building it so...I haven't even seen it yet." Those conceptual drawings had taken weeks to prepare with just the right additions for the pack and his own needs. Shifting from paper to reality, however, was a far greater ordeal and vastly more time-consuming. It would be months before he would be able to walk through it, much less bring the pack home.
Tetradore hardly thought much of her silence in the aftermath of that talk of that home they so desperately needed. After all, the Were-King much-preferred quietness over any sort of conversation. It was the sound of his name upon her lips that drew his gaze back towards her, that inquiry of a request caused his brow to rise and yet, the Alpha merely nodded wordlessly in an effort to coax her to continue. He watched as that nervous simper crossed her face, her hand gently resting on her stomach as she informed him of her pregnancy. The Were-King's gaze turned away from her and back towards the windows he'd taken to staring out, hardly hesitating as he offered her a response. "I already made sure there is an adjoining room to yours." He commented simply, after all, she had told him that the couple were trying, this news, in turn, was only the natural continuation of it. He fell silent for a moment before remembering that, regardless of that business of their home, she had been waiting for him to say...well...something about it. "Oh...uh...congratulations?" That...was what he was supposed to say...wasn't it?
I don't owe you a god damned thing
