It wasn't every day when this dreary city didn't go without a cold overcast day. Yet today it would seem would be special because for the first time in a long time the sun finally broke itself free from its cloudy cage. For once the bright golden rays of the sun was touching every possible corner of the city, even managing to lighten up the dark woods. Yet today, she had no need or business to back there, rather she was going to relish the rare touch of the sun in Hyde's Place. Hyde. Such a humorous name in her predicament. It would seem that a creature, like herself, shared the same tendencies' as the literature legends Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Sure, she didn't necessary have to drink a toxin in order to change into a monstrosity. She was capable of turning into a beast before she was barely 2 weeks old, and it wasn't until a very young tender age did she realize that when she changed she turned into something quite different. No more was she just an innocent young pup in her pack, she was something that needed to be controlled when she shifted and the feral mind was unleashed. Constantly she felt pain when she was in other Hyde form, her mind trained on instinct to attack and kill. Yet when her pack attempted to control her they used the only means necessary that their primal minds could comprehend. It left her scarred and beaten with a constant incapacity to trust others, even the ones she was close with, which at this point in time was no one.
This morning she managed to climb her way up a tree, happily lounging against the trunk, one leg hanging from the other. In hand was an old tattered book, the spine was cracked from endless strain from gentle use, the pages a crisp golden, the scent carried that old paper smell combined with hot spices. It truly was a good morning. Sitting upon the tree allowed her to be alone and be at peace, blue-grey tearing through the tiny ebony font, her entire mind focused on the plot. It would seem that each time she read it, something new was discovered that only made her enjoy the book even more. Scarred pale flesh was delighted to feel the warmth from the sun as it trickled through the leaves, a cool gentle breeze made her spot even more comfortable. It would be hours until morning had become the afternoon. Feeling her mouth was dry, her head would tilt downwards as she closed the book with a faded dark green bookmark leaving her place. Curious, she silent observed her surroundings. The park was awfully a bit to quiet, surely there were others enjoying this marvelous day. Yet she could not pick up anything. Turning her upper torso around, she placed the book in the small makeshift hole she created in the side of the tree she was leaning on, covering the book with leaves and sticks to protect it. Moving her upper torso forward both hands grasped the thick branch she was on, as she focused on the ground below. She wasn't too far from the ground, just high enough where no one could see or bother her. Taking a leap she would feel the familiar shift and crack of bones, wincing slightly at the pain as her body transformed into the large ebony would, with unique grey markings, in midair. Landing softly on her paws ,she shook herself stretching her form from sitting still for a long period of time. As soon as she felt ready to venture for water she felt the presence of another. Puzzled her head would turn and her blue-grey eyes would widen in shock. There before her was some sort of human and by the stench she caught on her, it was a human.
"Well shit...."
She accidentally communicated these words to the human, using her ability to converse with others while in this state. Her scarred face held a shock look to it, as her head tilted to the side. She would slowly sit down, facing the poor girl as she just stared silently. She wasn't quite sure just what she was supposed to do in this situation. So, she spoke to the girl once more, silently, as she gave a flick of her tail.
"Um...you weren't really supposed to see that...I...um...am not going to hurt you...okay?"
It was a pitiful way to say it, but she was attempting to show herself she wasn't a threat. With nothing left to lose she lowered herself on her stomach, attempting to show she wasn't going to attack the innocent bystander. Hopefully this wasn't a trick and some stupid Dark Hunter was nearby. She just hoped the girl would just faint...and then she would leave her to thinking she was crazy...yes...that was the plan, to lie here and wait until it was safe to run away. Really she should have put a sock in it, and kept her mouth shut.
I'd Rather Feel Pain Then Nothing At All
