South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

She had watched this place grow in much the same manner as one might watch a child come of age... in much the same manner that she had watched her own homeland evolve over the last century. Even before Alexander and immortality had claimed her for their own she had frequented this place, beckoned here with considerable frequency at the behest of her grandmother. It had always been a grandiose adventure, no matter the occasion, her grandmother having been unapologetic and shameless in the spoiling of her grandchildren. There were memories here, framed in architecture that had changed so very little over the years, carried back to her on the wings of the cool zephyr that tousled the cascading strands of her auburn hair. This city, and very many like it, were propped up by the memories of those who had lived them.

The Duchess had not made an effort to notify her uncle of her visit, for there was not a need for such frivolous things. Not with them. By the grace of his proclivity alone it was very likely that he might already know of her imminent arrival, the man's gift having always complicated such surprises. This had proven a source of much frustration for the Hunter in the earlier years of their relationship, not the least because she was not often wont to indulge in the charade that was the planning of surprises and so to have her efforts thwarted by her uncle's foresight had been very nearly maddening.

The points of her heels click a timely rhythm against the stone of the her uncle's residence as she ascends the stairs, brushing her fingertips against the doorbell. A sly simper stamps itself upon her chiseled features as the door swings open to reveal one of the only individuals who was capable of claiming any amount of her affection.

"Matteo."
