As Tobi smiles and a purr erupts from his throat, Maeve offers him another shy smile in return. Clearly thrilled with the fact that she was able to give the dark eyed man such a happy response with a simple compliment. The fae child had certainly never been this close to a wild animal before, even if the wild animal in this case was only a partially shifted were. Still, petting a wild big cat's tail was such an invigorating experience regardless of how such a moment was obtained. So Maeve merely continues to have those lips turned into such a petite and slender smile as she enjoys the unique fluffy softness of Tobi's long appendage.
The pale girl is blindly willing to trust the dark haired man that she has only met moments ago. Maybe it was due to her simply being a child, or maybe due to the fact that he had allowed her to pet his beautiful tail, or maybe too, Maeve could really see through to the man, and she knew so whole heartedly that he would not hurt her. That the promises he made to not harm the pale fae garland to protect her should danger come, were not empty but full to the brim, that he would fulfill whatever he said to her, his words not any sort of trap for the pale blonde girl, but rather, they set a road for no doubt a grand adventure to be had, an adventure Maeve was eager to follow the boy with gruff, broken baritones. Entirely free of judgement, just content to have found another, when she thought she had been so alone.
With a slight smile on her lips, Maeve follows Tobi, content to be with her new found protector. Maeve walks close to the were as he strides along, her steps much smaller than his own, his very height towering over the small fae. But even despite his longer walk, she knows the dark eyed man wont leave her, don't ask her how, she is a child, so she just knows. The cream haired colored girl watches with amethyst eyes as the giant ships bob in the distance. Reminding her of bubble baths and toy ships, but these would never fit in any bathtub that Maeve has ever seen, or any swimming pool for that matter. And of course the child has no idea of the matter of content that goes on within the docks of the western side of town. Content certainly not appropriate for a petite, little fairy, with violet eyes and shy, girlish smile.
A curious look crosses her face, but only briefly before it departs her childish features, deciding to take Tobi's hand. Deciding that he was only fulfilling his promise to protect her, even if he was simply protecting her from an empty street, a street that looked as though cars would not be driving upon its asphalt top any time soon. The fae child knew better than to question someone who was being so kind to her.
The pale skinned fae gathers close to Tobi, ensuring that she remains quiet as he has said to do, so obediently following the orders of a boy she hardly knew. The golden haired child hardly needs to duck under anything due to her short, petite frame. Violet eyes peer down at the hunters unloading the ships through those long lashes. She wonders what they could have in those boxes. Perhaps they hide her nightmares within them. Maeve's small body gently moves closer to Tobi's instinctively, feeling significantly safer the closer she is the were leopard. Amethyst eyes turn to the dark haired man as he speaks briefly, before those pointed ears continue to catch his words as she peers curiously at the men below. Why would they hurt her? Maeve has never hurt anyone before, she always tried to be nice. She did not think she was deserving of someone killing her, certainly not, the golden hair child thought.
"We cant let them find me, Tobi," she says, huddling so close to the were now that her pale body barely touch his own with lightness of snowflakes atop flower petals. She thinks it that easy, that they will not find her. Despite the harshness of the world that Maeve had been dealt, she still lives in a fantasy, a world of make-believe, she thinks that life is not cruel, and so she cannot even comprehend the fact of someone killing her. She thinks of death as something that is painful, but not the end of someone's being, and when Maeve thinks of pain, she thinks of what has hurt the most in her life, like skinning her knee terribly, or perhaps a shot. If you told the fair haired child that life was cruel and terrible she would look at you and smile politely and tell you how silly you're being. And even if she were to be proved wrong, it would never kill the optimism in her heart. It is - and always will be - a part of Maeve to love.
Lavender eyes stare curiously at Tobi for a moment. "You have kittens?" She asks, wondering if he means children such as what he had called her, or actual baby cats. Regardless, the prospect had Maeve tipping onto the edge of nosy. Briefly she looks perplexed, lavender eyes taking in the person that was Tobi. The perplexed look doesn't leave her face either as she considers that she probably never would have guessed that Tobi was the type to have children. Such is the reason to never judge on first appearances, she scolds herself silently. The pale child has little time to dwell though because she follows the way the leopard points towards a cargo ship. That is where he lived? Wow, Maeve could only imagine the adventures he must have living on such a large ship. Maeve turns back to him, staring up at him in awe. His life must be like straight from a story book.
The next questions catches the lithe fae girl off guard. He asks about her pack. And though Maeve knows it is typically animals like wolves that have packs, not humans (or rather faes), but she thinks she understands his words, a pack was a family. The pale girl looks downwards for a moment, almost ashamed, like a small puppy. But then she rises those beautiful, strange violet eyes back to his of earthen tone. "I don't have a pack," she says sadly. The child with hair like warm gold then speaks once more, "But I would love to have one," she says brightly, ever the optimist as a tender smile spreads across her face as she continues to peer up at him through long, innocent lashes, a sweet smile stretches her face like gentleness of a butterfly spreading its wings.
"Okay," those silvery lyrics to respond to Tobi, willing to follow him any where with just a single command or a look in her direction without any question from the child. She had not even noticed that some of the hunters were missing, but then again she did not have the predatory eye such as Tobi possessed effortlessly. She too with those delicately pointed ears of hers catches the sounds of footsteps and a look of surprise crosses those young, delicate, feminine features of hers. Quickly, the fae girl turns around to see what she faces, peering out from underneath long lashes at the hunters with uncertainly, carefully watching them with quiet purple eyes. He speaks and his voice is so sickly sweet and full of false truths that the pale child resists the urge to cover her ears with her hands to block out his lying words. The girl with hair like pale morning sunshine is nearly frozen in fear as he continues to gesture towards the pale skinned fae. Everything about him made the blonde Maeve feel gross and she could almost feel her stomach flip whenever she accidentally made eye contact with the man.
But it is Tobi's voice that breaks through to her frozen terror, that melts the ice away as he reminds the child of exactly what these men could do to her. She vigorously shakes her head, seemingly unable to find words from her mouth at the moment as she quickly moves to Tobi and hugs her body closer to him, her small arms wrapping around his leg, seeking the shelter of protection from the leopard. Her decision made clear and evident of exactly whose side Maeve was on.
