East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

i used to rule the world

seas would rise when i gave the word

Alexander's fingertips paused but inches from the silky flesh of Alexis' cheek. The man was all too aware of the fashion at which her body so seemed to tense any time he was near her - as if his simple touch somehow hurt her. He couldn't deny the way it frustrated him that he so managed to set her on edge and yet, Alexander neither too desired to push the girl on that which she was clearly uncomfortable with. Likewise, he was perhaps as painfully aware of the relief that seemed to flood her system when he failed to make contact with her skin. The Macedonian King couldn't help the frown that marred his features and slowly, his hand fell back to his side. He tried to push way those own emotions that tugged at the usually indifferent man, if only for the simple fact that he despised the tears that so threatened to bubble over from her glassy eyes. He hated seeing her cry perhaps as much as he hated her reaction to his presence - the man entirely unaware that both were entirely his fault. Still, his lips parted an effort to reassure the young woman that whatever she had done but paled in comparison to all the acts he himself had committed in the last few thousand years.

What he hadn't expected, however, was the way that her eyebrows furrowed, clearly taking it in before a whispered inquiry left his lips. For a moment, Alexander found himself simply staring at her, his head slowly tilting to the side. "Haunt me?" He inquired, as if the thought had never before occurred to the King. "No, why should it?" He inquired, his own eyebrows furrowing ever so slightly, "Their cities were mine for the taking. They would have done the same to Macedonia had I given them the chance. Some even tried." The truth of the matter was that Alexander came from, quite literally, a different era. In his time, war between cities were entirely frequent. Warlords rose and fell, Kings were made and cities rose and crumbled overnight. "The world in my time was not viewed as it is now. Cities were ruled by kings whose entire intent was to see to the growth and prosperity of their domains. Those who fought for them chose that life because it was honorable. Dying was honorable. I did right by them, even if it led to their deaths. I gave them their burial rights according to their customs. Why should I feel haunted for that?"

It was an entirely curious notion, after all, the ancient warlords were regarded as gods, as men that were held upon pedestals, even to this day. No one questioned how many they killed. No one deemed them callous murders. No, history remembered him as a military genius. It was funny how much time had changed. "Whatever you've done Alexis, I am sure you had your reasons for it and I do not doubt those reasons were entirely just....likely even better than my own ever had been." After all, Alexander's whole intent of his like - his goal for every action he made was purely to ensure he was not forgotten by the sands of time. He had entirely succeeded in that, at the very least. "I think, that is perhaps the most important thing to focus on, what your reason was and what you do in the aftermath. So, Alexis - is there anything we still have to take care of?" He inquired, his gaze entirely intent upon her. It was peculiar, perhaps, that he might have been willing to clean up after whatever mess she had so created but it was perhaps this that had made people love him so.
