The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Just as it was rare seeing a dog walk on its hind legs, the same rarity could be said about the woman sitting in the darkened corner booth. Unless you saw her at night before she decided to change, then that would be a true rarity indeed- to anyone not familiar with the unnatural world. The girl was not one that enjoyed being around others, much less, being in public. So, it was a rarity indeed that she would bring herself into an establishment that was meant for others to socialize and drink. Living in a nice part of town had its benefits. After all, there were nearby grocery stores, a few shops here and there, not as much crime in some places, but in all honesty she was suffocating. She needed something to do. Living in a part of town where everything was going well wasn't exactly something she was used to. Instead of going out and living like any normal person, she closed herself up in her little sanctuary. Thanks to the family name and packs associated with it, she was capable of living a homely and charmed life, in a way to show her birth pack had put her in the wrong. Everything inside seemed quaint and simple, giving off the vibe that she was living within her means...if her means were high-quality. Yet it was the upper levels that really showed just how much she was losing it, trapped within four walls. Having a feral mind was one thing, but having a fractured mind that only brought up bad memories was worse. Each time a thought or a memory came up, it caused the girl to be terribly frightened. When an animal is experiencing such a thing the only way to deal with it was the fight or flight response. Those upper levels were proof of just what happens and how she dealt with the pains in the past. Broken furniture, holes in walls, shredded wall papers, anything you could think of that would make it look like a twister came through there...that was what could be seen in the upper floors of her townhome. The only thing that she enjoyed about her home was climbing to the roof, feeling a sense of peace and calm sitting or lying outside- either day or night, just sitting there on top of the world while everything inside her mind was being destroyed.
If she were a danger to herself, then just why would she allow herself to be free and be among others? Simple. She needed to train herself to not allow herself to lose it, because keeping it like this wasn't going to do her or anyone else any good. As a small step she decided to venture out and at least attempt to be among civilization. Apparently, the Inner Sanctum was just the ideal place to test this trial out. She had been sitting there in the dark corner for quite some time now, content to be alone. Blue-grey eyes silently scanned the room, every now and then before she placed them back on the black font on rusted old paper. At first she was slightly agitated when she first came in. The scent of the coffee was strong, way too strong for her comfort, the noise was louder than what it was needed to be, and the lines felt more like a long lasting crowd that would never move. Her nails had left deep crescent marks in the palm of her hand, her jaw clenched, as she kept her eyes forward not wishing to be in this place any longer. Yet, being in the semi-darkness, having her piping hot chai tea, staying away from others allowed the agitation she was feeling to die down. Now, she seemed quite content, spending most of the afternoon sitting in one spot, reading her book. Though it would seem that the main character was turning for the worse, being attacked by the villain, and the way she was being attacked was eerily familiar with how she was abused. Those dark painful memories began to resurface and she could already feel the need to transform, and run like a bat out of hell, in this case a wolf out of a café, into the embrace of the night running from the memory of her troubles and allowing her feral mind to take control. Yet right now, she was attempting to keep from doing such a thing, by biting the inside of her lip, griping the book tighter. For some reason the warm tea she had beside her and the black hooded jacket she was wearing was incapable of keeping her warm as those cold terrors of the past began to take hold.
I'd Rather Feel Pain Then Nothing At All
