The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Samantha Cassidy
Talking about her family was one thing that Samantha truly struggled with. It was too new, too raw. She had tried so desperately to forget about the family that she had left behind or to ignore the ache in her chest that accompanied abandoning them. They thought she was dead. It had taken her almost two years before she had looked up her own name to see what anyone knew. She had seen so many missing person ads for other people in her lifetime. Some of them even being ones where families had not given up hope for five years. Ten years. Longer than that. And then there was her own missing person flyer. It had been like any other, she supposed. A picture of her from high school and her last known location. Age, weight, height. But then, barely six months after her disappearance, was the announcement of her death. They had not been the type to hold on to hope forever. No, instead they had been the type to give up and write her off for dead.
But they weren't... wrong... were they? Technically, she was dead. Samantha Cassidy had died the night that those faerie girls had slit her throat. They weren't wrong for giving up hope on Samantha's return, and yet that hadn't made it hurt any less.
She hadn't meant to hurt him as she requested that he let her back to the ground. It was only when she could touch the ground did she look up at him once more. The empath could feel the awkwardness between them, and after a moment of breathing she forced herself to look up and give the other faerie a smile. This was not how a queen acted. Dorian would have been appalled by it all. "Thank you," She said softly. "Thank you for making sure that I am okay. I do appreciate it." She sat herself down in the sand then, reaching to trail her fingers through the grains of sand. "I think I would have liked to have been born fae. I don't think there is another species that I'd rather be."
At the notion that his family had left him, Samantha looked up. She could feel his sadness thrumming between them, and even with her own sadness and despair, she found herself so desperately wanting him to smile. "I'm so sorry to hear that," She said softly. "They're fools." It was all the woman had to say on the matter before she stood once more, forcing a grin onto her features. "Race you," She said suddenly as she tapped his arm, the woman quickly moving to take off into the waves. The water was cold, and for a moment it stole her breath away, but still she continued into the water until a wave came in, knocking the girl off her feet. She laughed as she looked up at the faerie. "Come on Troy, scared?"
