East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

She has no idea the power she has over me. I was never the date kind of guy. After Katherine's betrayal, I felt that attachment was overrated and I avoided it at all costs. I believed in play things and one night stands. I once compelled a girl to "date me" in the way that she let me feed from her whenever I had the hankering and in return we acted affectionate in public and I didn't kill her. Even under compulsion, she would often have tears sweep down her cheeks while I drank from her, pleading with me not to go back on my word and kill her. I remember how heartless I used to be, how I would chuckle in amusement and wipe the tears away with my thumb, thinking her a silly human and how I loved the power of knowing I could snap her neck if she ever got too overwhelming.

Such fragile things, humans. Something was different about the redhead I met at the concert in Sacrosanct my first week here though. She was vibrant and alive but oh so shy and reserved. She didn't trust easily and I could see the wariness in her eyes when I asked to buy her a hotdog but she let me buy it anyway then sat on a park bench with me and we talked. Two complete strangers and she had no idea she was sitting less than a foot from a serial killer. Look at us today.

My brother has avoided me for decades because he believes I'm a lost cause. He gave up on trying to make me see reason, make me change my ways. He would laugh if he could see me now, whipped and making picnics for the girl of my dreams. I don't look at other girls the same. Sure, I still get attracted, think of them as sexy but I never get the hankering to actually touch. Before, I would just charm them into my bed, get what I want then be on my way. I can look but I don't feel the urge to touch. It's an odd feeling.

I can only find my lips quirking at her assurance that the ones who say I'm the worst don't know me. I can't find words, especially not when I'm too busy concentrating on how close her soft lips are to my skin. I love watching the flush cover her cheeks as we go back and forth, my intense gray blue gaze stuck watching her pearly whites press into the pillow of her bottom lip. Her response is surprising since it's usually rare for Isolt to do anything more than blush most times I tease her intimately but it seems I may be rubbing off on her more than I imagined.

My brows rise, eyes widening before I slowly lick my lips. "Well I certainly hope I have tickets to that show. A private showing, of course." I say with a small smirk. She leans in, her cherry lips brushing mine and I return the gesture, missing those lips the moment they're gone in what was way too brief of a kiss. As she leans away to regard me, so, too, am I drinking in her infinite beauty that I can never get enough of.

She shifts to move beside me, her head suddenly resting on my shoulder. My own head tilts, placing it gently on hers in a protective comforting gesture. I look down, watching our fingers entwine and giving her hand a gentle squeeze. I love touching her in any way. I love feeling her near. Her very scent is intoxicating to me, more addicting than the most powerful drug to a human. At her soft voice, I smile softly, blinking a few times as I try to imagine how I got here from where I was once so long ago in my life, or so it feels like now, anyway.

"I love you, too, more than you will ever know. More than all the stars in the sky, all the planets in the galaxy." As she proclaims that she wishes she could stay here forever, I turn my head some, nuzzling into her hair. "You are my forever. Anywhere you are is where I want to be." I whisper. A single drop suddenly lands on my cheek and I know what's coming. I look up, just as the sky decides to open up and rain drops start falling in a flood. I stare up for a moment, dumbfounded. Then suddenly all I can do is laugh.

I turn my head again to kiss Isolt's head before I slowly get to my feet, never letting go of her hand as I stand before her and lean down. "Come on, dance with me?"
