East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

There was just plain and utter defeat written across this woman, blatant for all the world to see, her body quivering like a lone leaf blowing within a breeze. What this timorous creature before her didn't know, was that as the hunter was hunting the other wolf, the pitch black, rose lupine, with her deadly sharp thorns was hunting him. Spurred on by the revenge that was owed to that vile man, she could still smell the death of many before upon those hungry, poison laced traps. Mira was in all truth lucky to have made it out alive.

Mira looked into those widened saucer eyes of the other wolf, her golden eyes gleam with personal amusement at her underestimation. Perhaps an idle tease would help her snap out of her turtle shell. "But you didn't, that's the thing. So 'probably' is just a figment you have created. I have met scarier beasts than you sweet wolf. Besides, I only wanted to help you out. You can't heal with a dagger sticking out of your face; unless that was the look you were going for. I have to admit it looked rather unpleasant." Her voice rang within the others mind, lighthearted sarcasm laced within those words, despite the pain she still felt from that open wound. The truth of the matter was that there were far more frightening creatures to fear, not creatures that only sometimes turned feral. Was the other woman ten times scarier when she was bear sized and foaming at the mouth? Yes. But no harm had come to Mira from the other she-wolf.

But even then when she was large and imposing, her eyes vacant and lost within the feral depths of another, she showed a great deal of restraint. The creature she had witnessed might not have been the timid lupine before her now, but she was by no means a monster. She knew monsters. Real heartless monsters that lived to feed off your suffering, got off by breaking you piece by piece, only stopping until there was nothing left but a shell. Now that was a real monster. Someone that used any means to control and destroy for their own selfish gain. The greedy, the relentless, and the sadistic, now that was scary. This woman, in either form was no monster even if she was dead set at believing it.

Raven lowers herself to the ground, making herself seem smaller than ever before. So small that Mira towered over her like a predator looming over their prey. It was a sad sight to behold. No wolf should hold themselves so low, so fragile that even a mere touch could shatter their brittle exterior. For a moment, Mira is paralyzed. She knew how to deal with bravado, with peacocking, and the angry at the world types. But this woman before her had lost all fight, as if the feral creature, even though it lay dormant inside of her had broken her piece by piece every time it took control. Raven even curled up close to her, a complete and utter stranger, desperate to find some calm. Mira froze, unsure with how to act at such weakness. Golden eyes laced with confusion and even a sliver of sympathy that her own wolf didn't know how to compute. She never had the luxury to feel such defeat, to simply give into the pain deep inside of her, that she undoubtedly faced every damn day within that corrosive pack. A thoughtful expression found its way on the she-wolfs face, nudging her neck softly in reassurance as though she were a young pup. There was an odd pull to comfort her, a peculiar feeling to this woman who was not known to care. Then again she was never given that opportunity. Caring = weakness.

The other wolf curled by her and began to explain.

Mira could not contain her laughter, a pleasant sound, her wolfish lips pull into a smile exposing those pearly white weapons. "This is hardly your fault sweet wolf. I promise. I was hunting that asshole, mind you it was by pure chance and luck that I caught his scent. It made it all the easier to rip him a new one after shooting blindly at you. He nearly took my leg off with his poisoned traps in the woods for anyone step into. He needed to be stopped and you helped make that happen. If it helps your conscience, I was the one who killed him. Not you. You only roughed him up a bit." She admits truthfully.

Then the woman whined, a dreadful heartbreaking sound. She couldn't stand it for one more second. She had to stop this pity parade. "Get up." She demands, her voice holding no room for her defiance. She nudged her with the top of her muzzle firmly. "You are wolf. You did nothing to cower like you are. You are stronger than you know. So show me." She growls with dominance, demanding her to quit feeling so bad for herself especially when she was undeserving of that harshness. She wasn't actually sure about the last part, but to be able to survive the transformation from human to wolf and hold back her feral creature within, she had to be strong. Somehow, some way she needed to embrace who and what she was, despite the hellish past that made her this way. Maybe, just maybe she still had some fight left in her.
