East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

It's a good thing she didn't know anything about the rules or codes of ethics when it came to workplace relations. She still hadn't been able to read all that well when she signed it upon getting employed here. She got that she was supposed to be nice to the other workers and listen to her boss but that was no problem for her since she was usually a friendly person anyway and well, her boss was easy enough to please. She didn't know that some of the other workers had caught onto the little side glances they gave each other on shift and that they gossiped about them sleeping together and how unfair it was. She didn't know that when one of the waitresses, Sally, knocked into her and made her spill a couple's coffees earlier in the day that it wasn't an "accident." But she smiled and apologized like it was her fault, hiding her frustration behind that smile while she cleaned up the mess and apologized to the couple and made them fresh cups.

She ignored what she did notice because none of it mattered to her. Maybe in another time, she would have ducked her head and tried to escape the looks but now she held her head high and walked past them without a care in the world. The only eyes she met were those of Alexander and she couldn't stop blushing every time she did and she didn't care. It made her day so much brighter to be able to look up from handing someone a cup of coffee and seeing his smiling face from wherever he was standing at the time. She could look past everything else just for that. And she was nervous about the date set for tomorrow. She had been watching horseback riding movies just to figure out how to do it and what she should wear. It looked like jeans and cowboy hats were the thing but then some girls looked so pretty in nothing but bikinis. Could she pull that off though? She sighed.

She was counting down the minutes until her shift ended, her eyes straying to the clock every so often because she always looked forward to those last 20 minutes or so when she would get some privacy with Alexander after everyone else left. They were always in a hurry to get out of there and go back to their lives but she existed for what lay inside these walls. Everything else could wait. And tonight it seemed he would be teaching her about the terrifying register. She stared at the screen in awe. First, it astounded her that she could touch it and things would happen. How did it know where her finger was? Plus she was distracted by that warm calloused hand resting so naturally on her waist. She squirmed a little, glancing up at her teasingly, her eyes hinting at what he would get started if he kept that up.

She was trying really hard to concentrate but sometimes her finger would press too lightly and nothing would happen or she'd press too firmly and too many things would happen at once. Then she would press the wrong button because she put more pressure on one side of her finger than the other and it all continued to get under her skin. Electronics in general were not her friend. She was all too glad to have that hand tighten upon her and pull her away from the irritating screen to pull her around to face him. Her eyes twinkled up at him as she leaned against his chest. At his question, she bit her bottom lip and nodded.

"And nervous. I've never rode an animal before. What if it doesn't like me or senses that I'm a were? What if it bucks me off? What if I just suck at it?"

Then he asked about her wardrobe and she smirked at her teasingly, looking down at his chest coyly as her fingers trailed lightly over his shirt.

"Well, I'm between choices. There's practical, the usual riding attire. Or...there's plan B....a little less attire."

Her brow rose expectantly as she glanced back up at him slyly, gauging his reaction. But then she heard the bell of the door and she turned too in curiosity since the closed sign was already spun around on the door. Thinking it was just an employee who had left something, her eyes widened in surprise when she saw a stranger there instead.

"I'm sorry, ma'am, but we're closed."

She said politely, her gaze shifting to Alexander to back her up but the look in his eyes was enough to make her scowl in thought as her gaze slowly swept back to the woman at the door.
