East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

We were chasing the thunder inside the storm;

That night in the tangled forest that she so often took solace within, had become tarnished with the realisation that she was not safe. No matter what dark corners she hid in, she was unable to avoid Negan's reach. What pretty little lies we tell ourselves, to give us this foolish notion that we are free but truly we are just trapped birds in cages, pinned to the wall with all our past transgressions. She hadn't seen Frost since that night and she nearly burnt down half the forest from that reaction he had stirred within her, directly or indirectly was the true question. Regardless, he had set forth a motion, triggering that volatile reaction within the volcano wolf. Something she was unable to simply turn off when they had parted their ways. She thought it to be soothed when she melted into the darkness of night but it came back with a vengeance.

What she hadn't anticipated was that scent that assaulted her attuned nostrils when she entered that quaint little coffee shop. Just her damn luck. She didn't bother to look his way, she trusted her sense of smell, it has never once let her down before. It was Frost, there was no doubt about it. It was hard to imagine the were-horse indulging in a hot beverage or doing anything normal besides threatening people and snuffing out hope wherever he walked. As far as Mira was concerned, he was the villain of Sacrosanct. Alright, maybe that was an exaggeration, but he certainly hadn't proven himself to be otherwise. Even if he claimed to help her with her Negan problem, but that was at a price. An undetermined price that left her back up.

Maybe it was just knowing he was there, but it felt like eyes were on her, causing her skin to crawl in that way that alerted you to a threat. It was a good thing she was up next in that relatively short line. Hastily, she ordered her coffee and a chocolate chip cookie (she sure as hell wasn't going to let him ruin her appetite). Since getting turned onto cookies again after a long ass time without them she had found herself craving the tasty morsel. It was damn shame this coffee shop had the best beverages and cookies around, it was a pity to stop coming here because it was here Frost haunted.

Maybe she could make it out without him noticing, what a foolish thought but it was thought that crossed her mind still. She tipped the barista who worked rather quickly, putting her change into a porcelain coffee cup that had the word tips written on it. It wasn't long before she was handed the dixie cup containing her drink and the paper bag containing her treat she wasn't giving up for nothing. Who would have thought she missed cookies so damn much. Those simple pleasures, these small freedoms that were often ignored when you lived in hell incarnate. There was far more pressing matters to focus on, like, you know survival. She spun around on her toes, ready to high tail it out of the coffee shop with long, fluent strides. She took maybe 5 strides before that dread became reality. The brunette certainly wasn't surprised, but she chose to ignore him until she couldn't.

His icy voice reaches her, no, assaults her as it made the hairs at the back of her neck stand. Damn, why couldn't he be like a vampire and only come out at night? His voice may have held that ice he wields but it was nothing in comparison to the lava that slithered just below the surface of skin. So much for making it out of the coffee shop incognito. Surely, the man wasn't so stupid to try something in public. Regardless, she felt this nagging sense of dread bubbling somewhere within her as she turned to face him, pivoting on her toes, feigning a smile that didn't even bother to reach her iconic golden eyes.

It was strange seeing him outside of equine skin, he was dressed in his usual garb. How human he seemed this way. She could imagine him thinking the same thing, wearing a simply grey shirt and a pair of comfortable pale jeans that were wearing at the knees. "Hello, Frost. So this is what you look outside of your pony meat suit." She peered at him, drawing in a steady breath knowing very well she was going to need it. There was no doubt in this world that it was him, especially with that arrogant look upon his smug features. The man had one of those faces that you just wanted to punch. Maybe, or maybe she just wasn't exactly pleased to see him. Her vibrant golden eyes study him carefully, not noticing any obvious weapons, but seriously, with powers like his, he didn't really need them.

It was his next words that spilled from his lips that made her peer into his violet eyes, such a strange hue for eyes and yet so familiar to his equine ones. It somehow suited the horse more than it did the man. He almost looked elfish with the pale hair and unique eyes. Somehow, this form seemed far less imposing but she doesn't let that guard drop. There was still something predatory about Mira that she can't quite shake in human form. You couldn't truly take the wolf from the girl, and she was okay with that. It kept people at bay and she appreciated that natural gift. Maybe it was the wild look in her eyes, or the way she carried herself. She was subconsciously aware of her surroundings in a way no human could ever be.

He claimed to solve her problem. Did he actually believe that? The only way that problem would truly be handled was if Negan was dead. That wolf was best to be decapitated just to make sure he was truly dead. "You bought me more time. You want a gold star for effort though?" How about a big one that she could staple right between those violet eyes? A mischievous gleam crosses her expression until he opened his big mouth, mocking her.

He seriously wanted her to kiss his ass and worship the ground he walked on for what? Not ratting her out like a snitch? Or so called raining fire on her world, turning into this lava beast. She sighed, rolling her eyes at the man. It was amusing hearing the man speak like that, she nearly laughed. "So I sound like a man trying to mimic a woman?? Well, I have to admit, that's a first. I suppose it's better than whinnying." Whinnying sounded so high pitch and whiney, not what a supposedly macho, up to no good man should have sounded like.

The man was all thorns and no sugar. "What's got under your skin today? Did the coffee shop run out of sugar cubes?" She raised a brow, her grip on her coffee digging into the cup that the lid nearly popped off. Hey if she was rude, she had a reason with that lava flowing within her would give her good enough reason to be hot tempered. It was a good thing she had more control than that, kind of.

Now he wanted to talk? This guy was like a certifiable rollercoaster. If he wanted to talk he could have just started off with that. "You act like I have a choice. You can talk while I enjoy this coffee. Walk with me." She sighed, so much for drinking that hazelnut coffee in peace. She knew what he had to say was only going to irk her, he was quite good at that. She spun around and continued walking in the direction she was walking in previously before he showed up. She assumed he would follow, surely those pony legs could keep up. She spoke, raising a brow, looking toward his direction in a side glance. "I couldn't help but think..You know if you were nicer, you could make a killing at kids birthday parties." Maybe he just needed a good old fashion horse whisperer to get through that thick skull of his.

I'd rather be dangerous;

MIRA RAMOS
